Hey ladies! My Fiance and I have been kind of in a rut lately on fun things to do. We are 25 and 27 respectively and are at that point where the college stage of going out and drinking just doesn’t seem quite as fun as it used to. So I’m looking for advice what are you and your FIs or DHs doing to keep things fun and interesting? We are always looking for a new adventure!

We like to go out to dinner and often use Groupon or Living Social deals to keep costs down. We also enjoy seeing movies, concerts or live theater. Sometimes we’ll get a group together and play board games or hang out at a bar.

We are ALWAYS trying new things cause we get bored easily. Lately we’ve been running, playing tennis, going out to more hipster bars than dance bars, and started a “family dinner” event with our coworkers which is essentially a rotating dinner party each week.
In the summer we organize a lot of weekend trips to go boating and to the beach.

Oh this is a good thread!!
We like to fish and go crabbing when time and weather permits (oh, and warm weather!). We also like to go for bike ride, and take the dogs for walks. We have a huge state park about a half hour drive from us, so we will either load the bikes up, or take the pups with us and go for a nice long leisurely walk. I’m hoping to get out there this weekend, as a matter of fact!
My guy is also a mechanic, and he used to drag race and do demo derbies. Haven’t had the funds or a car for that in the last couple of years, though. OH! And he is building me a car, so I help (ie listen to music, hand him tools, pretend I understand what he’s explaining to me, and rough house with the dogs!) when he’s outside working on the car

We like doing game nights! Have some friends over, make food, have some drinks and sit around the table and play games. We really like Apples to Apples and Loaded Questions. What kinds of things are you and your Fiance interested in? You could always go see movies, plays, sporting events…take a cooking class together (or just cook together at home).

we usually just hang out at his place or mine, don’t do much, go to the movies pretty regularly though, and are starting to go for walks together more 🙂

Gosh, we’re probably in need of some advice, too! We’re kinda homebodies, just in that our favorite thing to do is cook a yummy dinner, watch a good movie, and have a few drinks at home!
Lately, though, we’ve been trying to really discover more of our city by trying out new restaurants and bars. Going out to eat or out for a drink can seem more exciting if you’re going somewhere new. And that’s a great point that Groupon can give great ideas and keep costs down!
We’ve also started looking for concerts or comedy shows to go to — but trying to find ones that are maybe a couple of hours away so we can make a bit more of an adventure out of it. For example, we recently went to see one of my husband’s favorite comedians, but what made the night even more adventurous was that it was about two hours away and at a casino, so we played some slots and some poker before hitting the show.
But we could definitely use ideas as well!

@MrsWrangler: We love piano bars, after hanging out at one every night on our first cruise. I wish we could find a good one around us!

Games nights with a group are the best! It’s also fun to invite another couple over and cook dinner for them!

We like to go out for comedy shows. We just check on YouTube first to see if we think we would like the performer, and thus far haven’t found one we dislike.

@MrsSl82be: Wow that’s so cool that he is building you a car! We love to take the dogs out as well. Though I admit we haven’t been as good about it since we moved from Reno, NV to Pittsburgh, PA this summer. I am just not adjusting to the perpetual overcast sky and the wetness.
@ejay15 and @gatorhailey: I love the idea of a game night/dinner party. We used to do that all the time before we moved. I am just having difficulty meeting a lot of people to start of a group with again here in Pittsburgh

When the weather is nice we like to road cycle together. We also do outdoor activities. In the winter & during tax season we are home bodies though! We also like to do cruises. I think it’s important to try new activities together….it keeps things exciting.
ETA: one of my best friends told me her parents waited 5 years after marrying to have children & during those years they traveled with other couples. I think I would like to do this too.

We like to go to plays. This is more sporadic than I would like, of course.
We also used to go to a larger movie theater, but now we really love trying to find a smaller movie theater that plays limited releases. It’s more of an adventure that way.

We are outdoorsy, so snowshoeing, skiing, canoeing, fishing, hiking, camping or even just a walk.
Other things: play scrabble or host a board game night with friends, go to college sporting events, cook a fancier then usual supper together, go browsing at home depot and other home stores for our “dream home”
