You totally can wear that. And should, it’s gorgeous! My only concern would be make sure you talk to the store about packing it, how you would get it down there (plane ride, etc?) and find someone who can steam/press/fluff it without ruining it once you’re at the resort. Most resorts that do weddings have someone who can do this, so it shouldn’t be difficult. Just a thought.
Beautiful dress. Yes, you can get away with wearing that at a destination wedding!
Gorgeous! The dress will look so pretty on the beach!
@mrsSonthebeach: We are going to call ahead and bring it in a garment bag. Most airlines have a closet in the front where they can hang coats etc that are used for the crew. I read that you should be able to carry on a dress. I’ve seen it happen on a united flight once when we went to Disney last time. We will call immediatly after booking to let them know we have a dress for carryon. Typically the flights from DC to Orlando are large airplanes so this shouldnt be an issue.
First of all: That is one of the most beautiful and dreamy wedding dresses I have ever seen in my life! LOVE!
Although I wouldn’t expect to associate that style of dress with a beach wedding, I think it is so beautiful that you should wear it if you really want to. My only concern would be that the tulle hemline is going to be covered with sand. But hey, that is what dry cleaners are for. But if you really want it, go for it, because that dress is absolutely gorrrrrgeous! Wow!
@dewingedpixie: I thought the wedding was in tha Caribbean? I’ve flown to the Caribbean a lot and the planes are usually small ones. It’s the big planes with two aisles that have closets. The type that fly from Florida to the Caribbean are usually small planes, often prop planes. I’d call before you book your tickets. And no matter what, even if there will be a closet, be prepared to not have access because of wheelchairs, etc. Just be aware that you very well may need to gate check or counter check your wedding dress and think about the level of protection you would want for the dress if that becomes necessary.
I’d read this article by a flight attendant: http://www.gadling.com/2010/07/07/galley-gossip-traveling-with-a-wedding-dress/
I’m a firm believer in you can wear whatever you want for your wedding day!
YES!!! I love it, it’s stunning. It certainly won’t look out of place for a destination wedding. Remember – there’s no such thing as being too dressed up especially on your wedding day! Your only issue with a dress like that may be the packing and transportation to your resort. It might be heavy and big, but don’t let that put you off!
I would lock down your venue before dress shopping
@mrsSonthebeach: That is a different bride who is getting married at disney, I’m getting married in the Caribbeans if we do destination. Or maybe even Cabo since it’s much cooler there at night. I will be sure to read that article by the flight attendant. Thanks for posting it.
@KellyLouise: I do. I can post some.
@JenGirl: I can’t do that because we are not booking a venue any time soon and by the time we do, it would be cutting it too close to order a dress by the manufacturer. I don’t want one off the rack.
I photoshopped the clips that were attached to the back of the dress (too distracting) so that’s why there’s that blurry circle by the belt.
WOW this dress is BEAUTIFUL. YES, wear it!! you MUST!!
@Diamond84: Ummm yes!!! You could totally wear this dress to a destination wedding!!! Is there alot of layers or crinoline under it cause if so it might be super hot. I got a regular wedding dress but with very little layers under it..I’m sure I will sweat but oh well I will have to deal
Speaking as some one who has been a part of planning quite a few tropical weddings, I think that dress would be perfectly beautiful style wise. A lot of bride brought up some very valid logistical issues though. It might be a little more work to transport and secure at your venue but if you believe that it’s worth it, by all means, go for it. That is a gorgeous dress and I don’t think it will look out of place at all in the Caribbean.
I saw a SYTTD with this dress on a beach. It’s light and flows looking so I think it’s perfectly fine!
The topic ‘Ok be honest, do u think I could pull this dress off for a destination wedding?’ is closed to new replies.
