Ok I know with planning a wedding we feel overwhelmed at times and can be a little irritable not to mention overly sensitive. But I really feel like I have a right to be on this topic.. tell me if I’m wrong….
My Fiance and I are paying for our wedding ourselves.. My family is pretty non-existent and I’ll be very surprised if my mom can “find the time” to come.. anyway we are working on a very sensible budget and have been pretty good about sticking to it. It seems though every time I’m asking for advice on something involving a way to save money I get a response of can’t you just hire someone, or can’t you just buy one or why are you trying to be so cheap or …my fave,,, why can’t your parents just pay for it… Granted I’m not in the mind set that the world of wedding is cheap or free but I don’t have my parents standing by waiting to pay or offering anything for that matter.. so as much as I would love to hire someone or buy it new.. I am still on a budget!!
Am wrong for feeling this way?

@miamour28: Nope, I do not think you are in the wrong. You have a budget and I say stick to it.

Thank you! I’m sure its nice to have someone else paying! I can’t say I’m not a little jealous of those who do.. but ultimately I’m proud of what we are able to do for ourselves.

We are paying by ourselves as well. Any time someone says the kind of things they are telling you, my response is “What should I cut out of the wedding so we can afford this?” My fiance is a student, and we’re paying his tuition and books on top of the wedding expenses. If we spend $100 more on one thing, then that money must come out of the budget from somewhere else. I’ve seen too many brides with a budget of $X have that turn into two times as much or more.

Exactly! I am looking for a slip and I asked on here about it and 2 responses were just buy one .. and it’s ONLY 50.00 > Well that fifty dollars may mean my centerpieces or something else. So I am trying to find one cheaper before I just give in and pay full price.

@miamour28: If your looking for a slip check Ross, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls they usually have things like that (always new) deeply discounted depending on what you are looking for. If you have any of those stores near you.
