I would go in with a list of your colors, overall feel and your floral needs. The list should include how many centerpieces, altar arrangements, bouquets, bouts, corsages, etc. Then give them your budget and see what they come up with for you. You want a florist who is creative in their own right not someone who copies someone else’s work. If you go in with a bunch of inspiration pics you want copied things can get expensive fast. Those are just my two cents.

I think gerbera daisies and roses would be beautiful!  You could also just do pink and orange gerberas without the roses.

@secondchances:  I totally agree. My florist personally hates being micromanaged and having her creativity stifled by being given specifics.  She’s the expert afterall!

OP – the flowers will also depend what is in season at the time and what your florist can  obtain.  My florist told me what’s in season and we came up with some ideas, but if a few days before the wedding she gets a type of flower in that I wanted and they look like dying shit she’s not going to use them and will use something else that she thinks I will like and will look good with the overall look and feel I’ve conveyed to her.

I have found that giving less specific ideas at these types of appointments is always best to keep an open mind and allow for creative brainstorming, etc. The florist will be able to show you things that you probably haven’t considered, too.

I recommend bringing her 1 or 2 pictures that convey the feeling and overall look you’re going for, then let her recreate that look and feel in her own unique way. For example, I discussed what colors I absolutely did NOT want in my flowers, and showed her what kind of shape I want in my centerpieces, we really didn’t discuss specific flowers, though she did show me some options that may be available and will likely be used.

I would google image and pick some bouquets that you really like. Print off hte pictures and hten work with the florist to choose a combination within your budget.

Here are some photos I found:

Have you given any thought to non-floral bouquets? The color pewter would lend itself to something really outstanding like an antique button bouquet. Just a thought!

$200 is EXTREMELY low, new florist or not.  Our wear and carry alone is over $700.  How many flowers are you planning on having??  (EDIT: Oh I missed the bit about “and the cost of flowers”.  $200 is a low service fee, but it’s not that much lower than some of the quotes I’ve gotten.  I’d be more concerned with the “used flowers.”  What in the world is a used flower??)

As for flower combos, it depends on the season.  In season flowers are always less expensive.  Look at what’s in season on Google and then pick what jumps out at you.  That’s what I did for my wedding.  I also made a list of flowers I dislike and the florists I met with thanked me for that.

@LBalazi:  I asked this same question in another post and got only 1 response.  LOL!  But basically from my research, I think you’re supposed to give bouts/corsages/bouquets to parents, grandparents, and anyone in the wedding: groomsmen, bridesmaids, flower girl, ring bearer.  So, I’d say no, aunts and uncles don’t need anything.

@LBalazi:  Wow $200 is unreal.  Our total floral costs will be around $3000.

@LBalazi:  Here is an idea for you to go with a Pewter color gown, there are lots and lots of Flowers you can go with but remember the style plays into the style of bouquets you also want.

I own my own Wedding Floral Arrangement store and have done many weddings and had Pewter Bridesmaids Wedding and this bouquet is almost the exact one they used the only thing we did not use was the Green Ball/Beads.  And you can use Crystals, Garland wrapped in the bouquet, Ribbons hanging down from the bouquet, Ribbons wrapped on a wire like little loops and arranged into the bouquet or nothing at all.

Hope this helps, if not ~ please contact me here at Wedding Bee my list name is 88kristine29 or contact me via Facebook at Over the Moon Jewelry and Bridal.  Good luck I know you will put it together and congrats on your upcoming wedding!!
