OK! Don’t get me wrong, i love everybody till they give me a reason to hate/dislike them.. but there are a few bees/people in general that type in the stupid obnoxious short type crap that drives me crazy! I wont even do that through a text message, let alone on a message board where hundreds of other people read.. granted, i dont always use proper puncuation or capitalization, ok.. fine.. whatever.. but short type and shortening a 4 letter word to a 3 letter ‘abbreviation’ drives me INSANE i cannot be alone in this??! Please tell me i’m not crazy in thinking its obnoxious??!

I don’t do it much personally, but it doesn’t bother me.
I use some of the stuff that’s more bee-specific, like Darling Husband, Fiance, Groomsmen, SIL, etc. You’ve got to admit typing Future Father-In-Law is a lot easier than future father-in-law

i typically skip capitalization when using my ipad or bberry… but as for the text speak, i hate it too. it makes me feel like i’m reading a post from a teenager, and i always think to myself ” why is this child getting married?” i realize that i cannot logically assess the posters age that way, but its a gut reaction i cant avoid.

Depends on what you are talking about. I don’t like when people just leave out letters because they are too lazy to use proper grammar. But i do use things like LOL, OMG, Darling Husband, Fiance, etc… I didn’t vote cause I’m not sure what exactly you are referring to!

It’s taken me awhile to get used to them and I don’t use them all the time. To each their own.

@MsJ2theZ: NOOO LOL is fine.. its the ‘tht is stpd cuz it dsnt mk snc’ that drives me insane

Can you give some examples of what you’re so bothered by?
Fwiw, if you’re going to post a complaint you should probably make sure that your OP is damn near perfect. You can’t really criticize others posting habits when you don’t use proper punctuation or capitalization yourself. I realize you pointed that out in your OP but still. As much as you may be annoyed by abbreviations, others are equally as annoyed by poor grammar.

Why are abbreviations more annoying than incorrect (or total lack of) punctuation and capitalization?
I do use capitalization and puncuation most of the time *points to last post* thats the kind of short type i’m talking about… i dont use proper puncuation or capitalization because i normally post from my phone of my FH’s ipad.. yes, i’m ok with abbreviations like FH, LOL, Future Father-In-Law etc.. its the ones that make posts look like they’re written by a 10 year old that drive me crazy

I’m completely inconsistent about it – I don’t mind acronyms, like LOL or OMG, but I hate when people use text-spelling like u r gr8t.
So I don’t really feel like I can judge others. But I still find it annoying!

It bothers me too!! I receive texts from some girls on my team that are completely indeciferable!
i dont mean it in a judging way, i mean it in more of a i’m getting really really sick of seeing it, maybe its because my cousin just sent me a 6 page text of nothing but the obnoxious texting text (and by ‘see last post’ i meant my last post)

I get what u mean- but I teach middle school, so I’m use to it. It’s definitely something u have to get use to. That being said, I don’t think I’ve typed the word “you” in years, unless it was for work.

I get more annoyed by lack of punctuation and capitalization on the ‘Bee. It especially annoys me when people post huge run-on sentences or don’t split their posts into proper paragraphs. I find them extremely hard to follow!
I don’t mind things like Darling Husband or Future Father-In-Law, but I hate text-speak like ‘u’, ‘r’, and numbers in the place of words/letters!

I agree for the most part. A friend on facebook does this to the point where I do not even know what she is saying. I think to myself… “Can anyone else figure that out? I can’t be the only one who has no idea what she is talking about.”
