I would not take home anything personalized with the bride or groom’s name, or wedding date. Not even monogrammed.

How many things do you use that have someone else’s name on it?

If they’re free, I’d take them for favors but I wouldn’t get them personalized. That will just mean you’re stuck with a bunch of them with nothing to do with them.

We did Koozies, and I know alot of people say they wont use it if it has a name on it, but everyone loves a koozie, and no one reads what it says. My friends and guests are party-ers and beer drinkers and they are so pumped they are getting koozies!

@Hyperventilate:  I actually still have a deck of cards personalized from my best friend’s wedding that I use!

@kris325:  A date would be fine I suppose! I would just vehemently avoid names or “wedding-themed” embellishments (Such as embroidering “THIS IS A BRIDESMAID/WEDDING FAVOR/ETC ROBE!” Trust me… I was given a shirt as a wedding favor once. It had “WEDDING GUEST” embroidered in gold embroidery thread on it with the name and date of bride & groom silkscreened onto the back…. sigh.)

@kris325:  Truthfully… I don’t know what happened to the shirt. I’m not 100% I took it home with me. I know my boyfriend at the time took his. I remember it popping up in some facebook pictures a few years ago. He laughed it off, I stared at it like it had the plague. 😉

take the free favors! Favors are such a waste in the first place and these are free and you are on a tight budget.  I would go free favors or no favors!

I will chime in to add that I know Fiance and I would use the koozie, no matter what was on it. We like koozies and don’t even pay attention to what’s on them. I have countless koozies dated, with the event on them, etc. Don’t care, still keeps my beer cold 🙂

ETA: And omg they are free. I’d take it in a heartbeat based on that alone. But I am frugal.

If you’re on a budget then go with what feels right. Your guests aren’t going to hate/judge you for giving them a koozie instead of picture frames or oven mitts or whatever. I went to my best friend’s wedding where their only favors were some cheap pillow mints from the 0.99 store scattered around the tables but I still had a blast and was happy to celebrate their day with them. The favors were the last thing on my mind.
