- Wedding: September 2014
…our picture location and cocktail hour location are the same place!
I am just starting my wedding planning and am trying to book the official times for the church and reception site. In doing so, I am getting things a bit muddled up.
- The church is about 15 minutes (max) from the reception site.
- I want to do a receiving line after the ceremony as guests leave the church.
- We are taking our pictures at the reception site, many in the same yard/garden area that the cocktail hour will open up to.
With the receiving line, if we do “reception immediately following”, guests will already be starting cocktail hour by the time we get out of the church. I feel like we shouldn’t have guests milling about while we are taking our pictures. I’d like to take some on the patio (which is where they would be), and so what do we do, shoo them out of the shot? And then they will be seeing us before we get introduced for the first time – that just seems silly!
I booked them close together because I liked the convenience of everything being close, but now how can I leave an hour or 1.5 hour gap – where will they all go?!
Note: The site opens 3 hours before the start time for setup. So if the cocktail hour is set for, say 4pm, we could go onsite starting at 1pm to take individual pictures to save time later but the wedding is at 2, that doesn’t leave much time!
