Okay so I posted a week ago about my never ending search for a dress. I’d been searching for specific Mori Lee dresses without luck but the consultant pulled this Mori Lee 3096 (below) and to my surprise I liked it. SO….
I decided to go back to the first salon I went to (closer to home) to see if they had this dress. They did and I was very excited that I only had to drag my entourage to one salon next weekend. Well…I put it on and I didn’t love it like I did last weekend! Okay so it wasn’t the right size and it may have even been a different color than last weekend but I just didn’t love it.
I figured since I can like a dress one week and not the other perhaps it will work in the other direction and I can like a dress this week that I didn’t like previously. I decided to do some repeats and I really liked the one below. BEFORE you scroll, keep in mind it looks very different on me, I’m not a size zero and it’s not a straight on view and as usual I think it’s MUCH prettier in person (and in ivory)
Now this is what I’ve learned after all my dress shopping. I LOVE me some beading but I really have a hard time when only one side is beaded and the other side is plain. I want both sides of my dress to be beautiful and don’t want to walk in circles so everyone sees the pretty side 🙂 THIS is what I love about this dress, it’s identical on both sides.
Shall we move on to the predictable category of what I don’t like? Okay..the neckline, I’m not a fan of the sides sticking up higher than the beaded part but an easy fix to tuck those down so not a deal breaker.
The back however….the back of the bodice is gorgeous, hard to tell in the pic but in an ivory dress the beading on the back by the corset really stands out and I LOVE it. It’s the rest I will never love no matter how hard I try….BUBBLE hanging off my butt is what this is.
So in the end I have yet to try on a dress that doesn’t need something changed and I’m getting so frustrated. So far though I really think this is the top runner. It gives me the full skirt that I like, the beading on the bodice, corset AND both sides. Now I just need to see if there is something that can be done to that darn bubble.
Has anybody ever had anything changed on the train like this? I’m really nervous that I’ll finally lean far enough towards this dress that I just might say yes and then find out they can’t do a thing to it.
