Hello bees! My husband and I are attending the planned elopement/very small wedding (~20 guests?) of our friends. This is a Thursday evening wedding, ceremony in a city park followed by dinner at a restaurant. Is this dress okay to wear as a guest? I don’t wear a lot of long dresses and I’m a bit worried it will look too formal. I’ll be wearing different shoes, likely nude/beige pointy-toe flats.
Also, if this dress does look appropriate, any suggestions for what to wear over it (it will be chilly)? Cardigan, tie-sweater, leather jacket, blazer, denim jacket?!?

I don’t think the length makes it look too formal! It’s a pretty maxi dress! Maybe a shawl or sheer caftan for a coverup.

Looks great! You could get a single color shawl. 🙂

I think the dress is fine, but not the most flattering on your figure. You have a great body, but this does nothing for you – just makes you look like you have no curves at all

I agree with the above posters. A shawl would be nice!

Heh — an elopement with 20 guests. That’s funny.
The dress is appropriate for a wedding guest. I agree with catskillsinjune: it’s not the most flattering dress. However, a shawl will look really nice with it and may even fix the not-so-flattering issue.
The color of this dress is beautiful, so consider buying something with a similar color if you choose not to wear it to the wedding.

I think it looks flattering and perfect for the event!! I’d wear a cardigan or jean jacket personally but that’s based off what I have in my closet.

Do you know what the bride is wearing? – ie a proper wedding gown, a white sundress, ect. If you can’t base the formality of your outfit off hers, I would dress for the restaurant. If it’s a neighborhood restaurant, I’d throw on a jean jacket and fancy sandals with the maxi you picked out. If it’s one of the best restaurants in the city, I’d wear a formfitting dress, heels, and shawl.

I think it’s a lovely dress and I’d also pair it with a single colour shawl.

I think it looks great and is perfect. If you’re worried it might be too dressy for the occasion then a denim jacket with it will be great! Otherwise I’d wear a cardigan that matches one of the flower colors.
