- Wedding: September 2018
I recently went to a bridal salon called Mon Amie in Costa Mesa and as is customary at bridal salons, they asked for my contact information. At all the other salons I had gone to, I had put my parents’ information down (since I live out of town), but for some reason, I gave this particular salon my actual home address.
Well well, what do you know- two weeks later, I am already receiving TONS and TONS of wedding junkmail at my address. Go figure, right? Only ONE salon had that address and suddenly my mailbox is filled with (what is in my opinion) wedding garbage. I was REALLY steamed that they had sold my address to vendors. In fact, I was prepared to drop $5000 on a dress there, but I was so irritated with their annoying, opportunistic behavior, that I decided to go elsewhere to purchase it.
I know this is a common practice in many businesses, but this is a bridal salon!! While its primary goal is (understandably) to make money, its secondary goal should be to make your wedding memorable- not to capitalize on every detail and obnoxiously push affiliated vendors at you. To me, the whole selling-of-my-information seemed very sneaky and underhanded. Not only are the ads I’m receiving unsolicited, they are constant reminders of how this business went behind my back to make a buck. ugh.
But perhaps others appreciate that they are getting wedding vendor information mailed to them.
What are your thoughts on this?
