It’s VERY annoying. My answer is always “Yep, when God blesses us with a child”. Obviously not a great answer for those who don’t believe in God but for us it works, shuts people up pretty quick.

@Onime:  I always used to say “I graduate in December, we want to wait until I’m done with school.”  Well, we’ve actually been TTC since Jan, but they obviously didn’t know that.  well now that I’m done with school, I’m sure I’ll be getting it a lot more often, especially since they’ve started asking again within the last month or so.  I would simply say “we’re talking about it” but that was the wrong answer because I was told we need to do more than just talk! lol!  I finally got so fed up at our latest family function that I just said “who says we even want kids?”  that shut them up pretty quick!  they don’t need to know we’ve been TTC for almost a year, but I figured that answer was better than “we’ve been trying, and it’s not as easy for some people,” but I don’t want to have to explain any further.  Good Luck!

I have literally told people that “my uterus is not up for discussion.” That shuts them up. I’m 39 and just got married for the second time (no children yet) so you can imagine how much I’m asked this….even by my mother.

For people who I know are just making conversation, I keep it vague, “maybe in the spring or fall or definitely within the next year or two…” and then immediately ask them something about themselves.

But I have also been known to be pretty sassy/sarcastic with some friends, “well, we banged last night so check back in like 2-4 weeks”

We also get this daily. It’s annoying. I was probably one of those people who asked too, before I was in this situation. I am going through some medical issues preventing us from getting pregnant so the question stings every time. I usually just say that we’re enjoying our time together before starting a family….

I usually just said, “Well that’s a very personal question, isn’t it?” and they would back off. If they persisted I would follow up with the more sarcastic, “When we’re done talking about my sex life, can we talk about yours?”

I always said, “When the stork delivers one.” It’s dorky & a dumb response, but, ask a stupid question…

No one has ever asked me.  I actually am starting to take offense to it. We’ve been married a year and a couple of months and I’ve never had a single person ask.  It makes me feel like THEY don’t think we’re ready to have kids, so they don’t even bring it up.

Not even my best friend has asked.  Le sigh.

My friends have started asking and it is just so annoying. Whenever I’m not feeling well they ask, “Are you pregnant?”

I just respond with, “No. Are you?” That usually shuts them up.

So. Ridiculous.
