I used the mini pill for a while as I get migraines and am not supposed to take estrogen as migraines apparently mean you have a high chance of stroke while on the full pill. I didn’t like it. If I remember rightly, with the mini pill, because the dosage is much weaker, you have to take it at EXACTLY the same time every day or it’s not effective, and that freaked me out too much. The one I use now (a full normal pill) has a 6 hour window, which works a lot better for me. I’d rather a tiny chance of stroke than a big chance of baby.

It also doesn’t have the sugar pills so there is no withdrawal bleed, it just comes when it wants. After being on the pill and knowing when it was going to happen (and being able to control it when I really needed to) I didn’t like this.

But if you are more capable than me at taking it at the exact time each day, I’m sure it would be fine.

My experiences are very good. I can’t have the normal pill because I had trombosis in the past. The mini-pil is one of the few options. I’ve been on it for three years. It’s great, I don’t have my periode anymore. After I stopped with the minipil. I had my periode back again right away (with ovulation).

I was on the mini pill after I had my son because you can’t take regular pills and breastfeed. I still had the same problems I had with the regular pill in terms of really bad headaches and dizziness, but I didn’t have the emotional side effects.
