My partner and I are ordering my dream white gold setting (see below!) and we’re conflicted on whether to order a 7×5.5mm or 8×6.5mm Old European Cut oval moissanite from Harro.
I have pretty thin, long fingers (size 4.75) and while I’m leaning toward the larger stone, I’m a little afraid that the it might look too gaudy/flashy/costumey since it’ll be sitting so high up in the setting. I think I just need a second opinion. What would you do? Should I just go for it?
Any photos of your similar sized ovals would be super helpful as well, especially if we wear a similar ring size! 🙂

While this is a pear, it might give you an idea of size. Ring size 4.5 and 7×5 center stone (~2mm halo)

I think a stone would start to feel flashly at your finger size when it’s 9×7.5 or a 10×8.5 or higher. I currently have a 9×7 stone on a 5 finger, and I don’t think it’s flashy. However, it is the largest I would get for my size. I hope this helps!

I considered getting one when starsgem mentioned having them. I wish I could see one in person. Going by the specific picture s you posted, however, I’m concerned by how cloudy that stone looks. That would make me think twice.

This isn’t the stone I’m ordering — it’s shown with a white sapphire. I’m ordering it with a OEC moissanite! 🙂

If you’re leaning toward the larger stone, than go for it. I don’t think it will look out of place. You can always go to http://www.diamdb.com to get an idea of what each stone would look on your finger size.

I would go for the 8 x 6.5, personally I like bigger stones. My oval is larger than that (aprox 10×7) and it doesn’t look flashy at all in real life. My ring size is 6.5 for reference.
