My sister is pregnant with her 2nd daughter so she’s asked me to make this poll to gauge how people view her name choices. She likes old fashioned names that aren’t too trendy. She already had a daughter named Margaret, so something that may fit. The only thing she knows is that the middle name will be Marie (her MIL’s name.)
1) She likes Ada because Ada Lovelace was a computer scientist but she’s worried that the Ava and Addison trend will continue and Ada will seem common.
2) Hazel-same concern about trendiness, especially after Fault in our stars.
3) I don’t think Frances is in danger of getting popular but I think it could come off as too precious/old ladyish.
Her husband likes all three after rejecting many many others 😛

I looove classic baby names! Of those three, I like Ada the best. I came veeeery close to naming my daughter Adele (we ended up going with Catherine), so I might be a bit biased 😛 I do agree that it is pretty close to super-trendy Ava, though.

I love Ada Marie, it’s one of my top picks for when I eventually have a little girl (Marie is my mother’s middle name). So I hope it doesn’t get too popular!

Haha Marie is my middle name, and I love the name most ____ Marie _____ names flow.
I voted Frances Marie, I think it’s adorable, and nicknames could be Fran, Frannie, Frankie. My second pick would be Ada Marie, but I see her concern about it possibly seeming or becoming more common than she’d like.

I love them all, but voted for Hazel. Frances would be my #2.

I voted for Ada as I really like that name. Also, who cares if a name is trendy? I am Amy, and its very common for my age group but that didn’t really affect my life at all. I went by Amy Jo sometimes to differentiate myself.
Frances I don’t really care for, but Frankie as a nickname would be awesome.
Hazel I like a lot as well.
My Fiance and I have already talked about Ava or some variation for a girl, when we decide to have kids. We don’t care that its popular, it might be years before that happens anyway so it’ll be out of trend by then i’m sure.

Go with Frances. They could call her Baby. 🙂

I love Ada! Ada Lovelace is a rocking namesake!!

I like Hazel the best. I would HATE it if my name was Frances.

princesslettuce14: I think Frances is the most old-fashioned and least trendy of the three. Both Hazel and Ada are making a comeback, so I voted for Frances.

I like Frances and Hazel. I think that Ada is way too trendy if she is looking for classic names. I named my second daughter Luella Marie, and we call her Lulu a lot. I liked Luella because it is bubbly on the tounge, you read it and know how to say it, old-fashioned, not popular at all, pretty, and three syllables ending in a short “a” sound. Crazy, but the syllables and short “a” sound were my rules. My other daughter is Mariah. A little more trendy, but not very popular.

I can’t even pick which one I like best. They’re all awesome.

I honestly like them all.
If I ever have another daughter she will be called Betty Marie.

ChocolateLime: I love Betty, it’s such a cute rockabilly name. I also think of the Clueless complent “she”s such a Betty!”
Jijitattoo: She’s reading over my shoulder and she thanks you. She’s spent a little too much time looking at the Social security baby lists :p
