Hi all. I have a TOTAL budget of 15K for our wedding. We REALLY like The Old Mill in Rose Valley, Pa. Has anything gotten married and had their reception here? If so, any opinions on if this budget would work for the venue and catering? Thanks!

Oh man! It’s so beautiful, but from what I remember about researching, it was out of my price range. They don’t let you bring in your own caterer (which is how I’ve looked into saving money).
You could always send them an email. I remember they sent me a price sheet pretty quickly.

I’m totally in love with the Old Mill! I have a similar budget, and I’m really hoping the caterer can work with us. I emailed him and got a bit of information, but I think I am going to visit to feel it out.
Any other bees know anything about Old Mill wedding expenses?

Well, my Fiance and parents and I visited the Old Mill last weekend and booked it Monday! The contract is en route to our mailbox! I’ll be sure to post anything helpful as we nail down details.

I am getting married at The Old Mill and have just LOVED working with them thus far…however, the list of preferred vendors gave me a florist who is just so sweet, but terrible at business. I’m currently wondering if she’ll even show up that day…that’s the point we are at.

@AstoriaBoston That is awesome!!! We’ll have to swap planning secrets, now! 😉 It’s a little tough planning from a distance, especially sicne my parents don’t live in the area, either. But the Old Mill is so worth it– I can’t wait.

I had mine there this past weekend, and everything was beautiful. Just perfect. The food was delicious (though we didn’t get many of the appetizers, too busy with photos). The staff was very nice and efficient. The dinner (we did family style) was awesome. Everyone loved it. And it was just a nice setting for a cozy, nature-filled wedding. We loved it. We dropped things off on Thursday beforehand and picked up the extras the following Monday, which was nice. When I first arrived there on the wedding day after my salon time, I gasped when I saw everything all set up. It was beautiful.
It wasn’t cheap. Compared to other venues in the area, it looks like it’ll be cheaper, but maybe the other venues’ $150/person covers alcohol and decor and tip. The Old Mill charges for tent fees, heater fees (though the tent and heater appear to be permanent), chair set-up fees, and you bring your own alcohol. And we did our own centerpieces. Just for the Old Mill + catering alone, minus alcohol, was $13000 and change. And we were trying to keep things on the cheap! This was at $70/person. It’s probably not going to work if your total budget is $15K. They also require you to have over 100 people, or else you get charged other fees (no idea what they were, we squeaked in at 105!).
To me, it was worth it. The largest check I’ve ever written in my life, but worth it for the ambiance and beauty and great food/service.

this may sound so silly but I was locked out of the bee for months. I kept getting a technical error and finally just gave up!
The wedding at the old mill was beautiful and actually, the florist, Susan essicks, was also fantastic! I think they were in Europe for the holidays but if you are still interested, please let me know!
