Does anyone else here have an old mine cut diamond? My setting is new, but the diamond is from 1910 and was from my grandma. I didn’t realize how special an OMC diamond was until I looked it up. My Fiance wanted to buy a new diamond, but the jeweler conviused him to keep this one since it is so special. I love the history of it π
Its hard to tell from the pictures, but the sparkles are insane!

The jeweler took one look at the diamond and immediately new it was an OMC. then once it was put into the setting, which is a Simon G, they also appraised the ring. It was cut by hand and from what they told me, any appraiser should also be able to tell you.

Beautiful stone and setting! I also have an OMC and agree with you that they are so special and I love mine. It’s also in a new setting and the jeweller has estimated it to be from approx 1860.
Anyway here is my beauty π

@wrkbrk: One of the first things you will see on on OMC is the little circle in the middle and it has chunkier fasets as there are less of them than on a Ring Bearer. It will not to be completely round, it will have a bigger crown as well.
If yours is from the 30s is more likely to be a transitional diamond or a OEC though. If you google all 3 you should be able to see pics to compare. I hope that helps.

@wrkbrk: Beautiful! it looks a bit too symmetrical to be an OMC but it could be a transitional diamond. They are stunning as well, not that all diamond cuts aren’t π
