What are your thoughts on a daycare center using old pill bottles with tiny toys inside for 9-18 month olds? The bottles are about five years old and have the labels mostly removed and there are no pills, but do have small objects inside.

Why? Just why?
If the daycare can’t afford or doesn’t want to provide proper toys, I wouldn’t hesitate to remove my child.

LoveAndLaughter: Umm, that is a terrible idea! It conditions babies to associate pill bottles with toys, and that is not OK. Oh, look, mom and dad have a whole cabinet full of rattles!
Whoever thought of this is a moron.

It would make me raise an eyebrow. It seems sketchy to me.

As long as they were cleaned, I don’t really see a problem with it. They’re just containers.

I hope that’s the cheapest daycare ever.

maybe if they wrapped them in fabric, so the container couldn’t be seen would be fine…but other then that, it’s weird.

I have so many empty pill bottles just sitting around, I guess I’ll make rattles for babies – said no one, ever.

Whatevs. I played with beer cans as a kid.

LoveAndLaughter: potential choking hazard if the lid ever came unscrewed I see soooo many potential tort suits being brought up but that’s because I am a la student I personally would never leave my child in such a daycare Because to repurpose a pill bottle as a rattle is so wrong in so many ways

No no no. You are teaching them that pills= something fun to play with. Terrible idea.

Hyperventilate: hahahahaha Your comment made me LOL

LoveAndLaughter: so did you make these rattles or is it your daycare?
Oh, I was thinking you meant just for your house/your family personally and I as gonna say, “What’s wrong with that?”
But…a daycare? No. If they can’t afford real toys, they are probably really shady.
