How about something vintage? Since you met 40 years ago, maybe something from the 60-70s? Like a mod dress with a small bolero for a cover-up? Or you could always go with a very early 60s dress with a scoop neck and a full, tea-length skirt? Since you’re only 60, I think you should wear something AMAZING! Not just a skirt suit.

If you don’t want to wear a white wedding dress, I think you’re open to pretty much any type of dress you want. Since it’s summer, maybe a sundress of some sort? Pick your favorite color and a silhouette that looks good on you and go with what feels good. 🙂

@olderlady: I think you should shop in Bergdorf’s, Holt Renfrew or Bloomingdales for a really good quality designer outfit – somthing tailored and GORGEOUS fabric that will flatter your body. Whether it be an evening dress or a spectacular tailored suit. But it really depends on your venue (is it formal or casual?) and how you invision yourself on the big day!

What’s your personal style? Have a favorite color or any color that looks particularly good on you? That’s probably where I’d start.
There are so many beautiful dresses out there, I can’t imagine you won’t have fun looking for one. Even if you didn’t want a long dress, you could always have it tailored to something knee or tea length quite easily. Will you be having a reception, or party or just dinner afterwards?
