What do folk think of my idea for ombre bridesmaids? I’m not into matchy-matchy, and as my bridesmaids are all completely different shapes and sizes they couldn’t possibly have the same style of dress! I’ve spent hours messing around with colours and mocking up selections of dresses (I’m obsessed!) and I was wondering what people thought. I’m not set on the colours for the wedding yet, which is why I’ve made a few different mock-ups.

I am probably doing this with my bridesmaids. They are each picking their own dress (purple), and I will decide on their order based on their dress.

@bikukii: I think it’s a great idea! Can I ask what style of wedding dress you are wearing? I have also been considering the ombre look, but I am not sure if it will look good with my style of wedding dress.

AWESOME! I’m very partial to the blue. If you’re unsure of some things, you could always ask the bridesmaids their opinion.

I love this! I am having my BMs wear all shades of pink!

ooooh this is what I’m doing!! I have three bridesmaids, their colours are going to be lilac, lavender, and blue.
I LOVE your purple colours

Love it! My bridesmaids all have different style dresses but same color. It looks like the teal and purple dresses you have there are Alfred Sung–(that what kind my BMs are wearing) His dresses are great and so easy to do the mismatched thing with!

Love it! My bm’s are doing that in muted purples! And my moh is in a blush since that is my accent color. I think it looks great ; )

I tried to do this and it failed I went from wanting your 1st three teal dresses to having your lightest shade of purple ( no it wasn’t even originally a color) and a dark peacock blue Maid/Matron of Honor ( luckly she’s the moh).
It was bad and my last Bridesmaid or Best Man wanted to do a dark purple dress and I had to put my foot down. and 17 days before the wedding and I still haven’t seen the dress so I am FREAKING out. no lie.
but this was the place I bought it froms fault for getting the wrong color made for my first Bridesmaid or Best Man and then my Maid/Matron of Honor had the same thing happen to her the color they showed us was not the color we got!
Anyway just sharing!

That really sucks 🙁
Ours seems to be working out pretty well so far. Picked our colours and 3 of the 4 dresses (FI’s sister is impossible to pin down to try on dresses!), and so far so good. Here’s a photo of the 4 colours in the fabric I’ve chosen (not the exact style of dresses as the shop didn’t have them to try on). Wedding colours are purple/blush and grey (grrom will be in a light grey tweed kilt suit, and the grooms party will be wearing grey tartan) with accents of green.
Here’re the styles my girls have gone for:

Love it!! My girls are also picking their own purple dresses. Whatever colour they like so i’m hoping for a nice variation. I think it looks lovely!

I love this idea! I think I’d try to keep it consistent with a similar cut to the dress- similar neckline and length maybe.

@bikukii: Wow, that color combination looks great! I love those colors individually, too. What material are your girls’ dresses (peau de soie or shantung)? Is one less shiny or wrinkly than the other?
