I love ombre.  Love it.  I don’t know of a designer that does it, but it is easy enough to do yourself.  Just practice on other fabric first!

To each it’s own. I am personally not a big fan of it (or maybe I just don’t think I can pull it off). But if this is your style then I say go for it. Also it depends on the make and style of your dress. I think it looks cool on the first pic but not so much on the second pic. (Again, this is just my opinion)

You could probably have your seamstress do it, but first you have to make sure to select a dress with natural fabric. No polyester satin, etc. It would have to be silk satin, which is super expensive, or a cotton of some sort, otherwise the dye just doesn’t want to stick.

@Pearberry:  Do you have good dye?  Do not use a grocery store dye!!!

@MrsLulu:  was just going to suggest dharma, they have some great stuff and so much information! I am going to be dying my dress purple after the wedding so that I can use it again and I got most of the info I need from them.

I (personally. personally, personally, personally!) really dislike it. I think that the pics above are too extreme..if it was really subtle I would probably be more partial to it.

I think it also depends on the bride rocking it though! I definitely couldn’t, but the first bride (Gwen Stefani, I think) looked good.

I know it’s not true ombre, but this Ian Stuart dress reminds me of it

@Pearberry:  I know the flowers are multicolor and it looks like the tulle is almost a light blue, but it’s hard to tell from the website photo, but he uses color all of the time so I wouldn’t be surprised.
