@ilybride52513:  Ha!  I love anything ombre, so it’s cool with me.  But you’re so right!

I like it on other people but I don’t know if it is a trend I could confidently rock on my own head.

I have long hair and it gets bleached out a bit by the son, making the bottom much lighter than the top. I guess it’s Ombre! But I hate it and end up doing a semi permanent color so it’ll all be the same color as the top of my head…

@MissPine:  Mine turns red on the ends and it’s always bugged me… now I’ll just think of it as ombre…lol

@ilybride52513:

I cannot get into it either! I have light brown hair & I get highlights for blonde blonde. My roots & colored hair have too much contrast for this to work. I think it looks tacky BUT I have seen a few celebrities who pull it off. I think it has to be done with just the right contrast of hair colors.

@ilybride52513:  I’m so glad someone else agrees on this!!! I love the ombre trend in general, but it’s not “ombre” hair, it’s “I’m too lazy to get my roots touched up” hair.

@ilybride52513:  I agree with you. I saw someone on a makeover show the other day and her hair was hmoe colored so much that the bottom was darker than the top because she kept layering the color and the stylist was talking about how awful it looked and he evened the color out, and I was amused the whole time thinking that there are people out there trying to get the same effect on purpose and spending a lot of money for it.

Haha! That’s what I always think when I see ombre hair. I’m growing my old colour out of my hair so I have about 2/3 dark and the rest is a bit lighter. I just thought I had bad roots until I found out I had ombre hair.

Gisele pulls off a sweet baylage/ombre!

I think if the highlights are not too far off from your root color its fine, but if its like black and white it can border on looking poorly managed/skunk.

A dear friend is doing this right now to transition out of platinum blonde and back to her natural color. It’s gorgeous on her, and I think it does look better than just a regular grow out. But it does look kind of like  a grow out 🙂
