So we did our food tasting this past Sunday! Everything was delicious! The lady is not fancy herself just small town but everything was wonderful! We are inviiting 270 people so we were a little worried about costs of the food! Well she just called me and I had her call mom since she is paying and we both about died! She is going to do the brides adn grooms cakes for $400! Which they are not small! Then she is only charging $6.00 a plate! So CHEAP! We are having real food too! Chicken Fingers, Pork Tenderloin with Sweet Potato Biscuits Shrim and Grits, Squash and Corn casserole, mini baked potatoes, muffins and rolls and then sweet tea, lemonade and coffee! We are supplying our on alcohol! They will also work at the bar and be there all night! SO AWESOME! What are you paying for your food!

Wow you got a good deal on your cake. Mine came out to $530 for a 5 tier cake & I haven’t included groomscake yet. $6.00 a plate is also a good deal. With food and 4 hr open bar ours is coming out to $100/person for guest of 200 people

$6 a plate? So awesome! The food sounds delicious, too! I hope I have that kind of luck.
Oh, and yay for Bama brides!

Sounds delicious! That is a great price. Many people fail to realize that price really does depend on where you are located since smaller towns nearly always charge less for the same meal that would cost a small fortune in a large city.

Wow so lucky! I’m paying $62.95 per plate not including tax and 20% service charge, the cake was included in the package but upgraded $250 for fondant. Oh that also includes a 2 hr host bar, unlimited soda all night, appetizers, glass of wine at dinner and champagne toast. I50 guests!

That is a great deal! Yay for you! The food sounds really yummy too!
I went through a small town caterer as well, although she has linens, centerpieces and china that we can rent which is really nice. They are also doing all of the decorating at our wedding site and reception and almost act as day of coordinators. When our guests get to the reception their salads will be on the tables already with different dressings to choose from in these cute little glass containers. The rest will be buffet, pork tenderloin, fried apples, twiced baked potato casserole, country style green beans and rolls. Ours is $10 a plate and that includes china/glassware/silverware. They also have servers that come around and fill guests drinks which I really like.

Sounds awesome! I wish she was out here in California. These food people are super pricey!

DANG!!!! i don’t know what we will be paying – if anything – my husband is the manager of a catering company and he’s working it out with his boss! it’s the ONE thing i haven’t had to worry ANYTHING about!!! 😀
btw, $6/plate is REDICULOUS! 😀 congrats!!

Wowza! I don’t even understand how that is possible to charge so little! Lucky for you though!
We are paying $21.50pp for apps during the social and buffet dinner. And my Aunt is making our cake so it’s free!
Our wedding is in a small town and we went through a woman who just owns a small catering business. Otherwise, if we were to go through a hotel or golf club it would be anywhere from $55-110pp.

That is amazing!!! Ours is kind of hard to break down because the venue is doing the catering and all the costs are kind of rolled into one, but we’re paying just under $6,500 for the venue for ceremony and reception, all rentals, appetizers and dinner, and bar set up (we bring alcohol). I think the food alone works out to something like $28/person. I’m pretty thrilled with it because that is way lower than anything else we saw!

Oh and we haven’t found someone to do our cake yet. Lowest quote so far is $2/slice and we’ll have about 110.

we don’t have to pay til after the wedding – but my husband just told me his boss is charging us $5.50/person 😀
