I never knew that my fiance could have so many tricks up his sleeve, and just to think, I thought I knew everything about what was going on. Well, today I took our daughter (she will soon be his, he is going to adopt her after we are married) to her grandmother’s house to watch movies and she usually goes into the playroom and plays with an unlimited fountain of toys. Well he told me that he would meet up with me later on in the evening, because he and Aaron had some things to do. Needless to say, I had no idea that he would be spending the afternoon in Amarillo.
Well when he came to the house, he had this look on his face I couldn’t describe as any other way than a smirk. I kissed him as I usually do upon greeting him, and he took me by the hand, and kissed me back. He then told me to go ahead and grab my jacket, and asked if my Mom wouldn’t mind watching Dakota for a few minutes. Apparently she had been let in on it, because she had a smirk herself. Keep in mind, HE ALREADY PROPOSED… there should not have been any more surprises! Lol.
Anyhow, we took the ten minute drive from her house, to the city lake, and we watched the ducks wading in the water as they drifted by the little bridge and dock that we now stood on. He thought it would be nice to just get out and smell the fresh air, and feed the ducks, in which we did.
But of course, my being a smartass, I said, “Alright honey. Really. This is incredibly beautiful, but what are we doing out here? You know the lake is like 10 degrees colder than town… What are we doing?”
And he smiled at me, bent down on one knee, and pulled out the box. The box that contained my 1.20 radiant platinum solitaire. And asked, yet again, but his proposal the second time around caught me by surprise and made me breathless.
“Will you marry me?”
And the rest, as you know, is history.
