I found my DJ on gigmaster.com. All of the DJ’s i viewed were able to send Video clips. I even had them call me on the phone and do a voice audition lol. One of the DJ’s sounded like…he had some type of learning diability and was from Switzerland. LOL that cut him out. I want my people to be able to understand what is being said!

Do you know anyone personally that can give a reccomendation?  I felt the same way, but I mentioned something on Facebook and a friend recommended their DJ (who did another friends wedding I found out later).  After we met the DJ, I asked to see of he had any video and he had a whole collection.  He seems like a great DJ (so far at least).

Maybe ask them if you can go to an event they are DJing at to see if they fit what you are looking for? That’s what our DJ did for us. We didn’t end up going, but he was so great on the phone and I’ve heard so many good things about him from acquaintances/friends that I’m confident enough in him.

Interview each and see who works best for you.  We interviewed 3 and loved the first one and went with him.  Each time we asked if they had any sample videos and asked for references.

Has either of them DJ’d an event at your venue? That might me a small detail to consider, but for me . . my cermony, dinner & dancing are in three different areas of the hotel. I wanted someone who would be able to MC and setup comfortably. My horror was someone telling me the ceremony cant start on time because the DJ is having technical difficulties or is unsure of the property and cant direct anyone well. Also, interview and see what feeling you get as far as helping you schedule out you reception (if applicable). My DJ wrote my wedding day timeline! Yes, I can altar anything I like, but she took the extra step to help me because I was lost! 🙂 She and her company has done so many events at the hotel, she was wiling to go the extra mile to help me schedule the timing for everything.

You have afew months….are either of them doing a public event where you could go see them?

We were at a beer tasting and the DJ was running the show there, and was friendly, played requests and knew alot  about what was goign on.  DH called him and asked if he did weddings and he did.  So that’s how we lucked into our DJ.

I only ment that .. it’s Spring so they might be doing some outdoor concerts and things.  You should ask them for a schedule so you can hear what they do.

Don’t get me wrong our DJ was laid back at the beer tasting, but he was lively and awesome for our wedding.

I booked a dj through gigmasters — they’re out of Georgetown and people I knew had used them before and thought they were fantastic.

We haven’t heard them in person ourselves though (to be fair we live out of state, but still). My plan for booking vendors has been to book people who seemed easy to work with and who were responsive to emails. I actually think it’s serving me pretty well.

We met with our DJ and knew as soon as we talked to him that he was the one for us.  He had great reviews and our personalities really meshed.  I did not regret my choice for a second!!
