- Wedding: June 2013
It’s 10 days til I do and I’m already reminiscing about how great the last few months have been. I have a very small bridal party – just an Maid/Matron of Honor and a bridesmaid but they went above and beyond in giving me an AMAZING bachelorette – more than anything I could have imagined or hoped for!
Everything was kept absolutely top secret from me – all I knew was the date and that I would be going out of town for the weekend. I didn’t even know exactly who was coming. My bridal party made ridiculously hilarious t-shirts for themselves that had photos of each one of them with me on the front. A limo showed up to pick us up at my MOH’s house, along with the first batch of guests. It was awesome to get to kick back and drink champagne and laugh all the way to the mystery destination.
Turns out they were taking me to Niagara Falls, Ontario for the weekend – they rented two big ass suites with spectacular views of the falls and the afternoon started with everyone making a personalized wine glass as we were having a wine & cheese party. As that was happening, two more guests showed up who I wasn’t expecting – one had come in from Ottawa (7 hours away!). As we were wrapping up the wine & cheese party, two ladies showed up in the suite to give everyone glitter tattoos (yes, I’m 5 years old…lol). We then got changed for dinner and the club. Dinner was amazing – we went to a Brazilian steakhouse and stuffed our faces. Then we went to the only real nightclub in Niagara Falls where they had booked us a VIP booth. I have to say, it was pretty sweet to get whisked past the line up of people and into our own private area with bottle service!
As you can see – we all had a really great time and everyone is still talking about it to this day (they are dying to do it again, we are just running out of people to get married!). I know that we looked ridiculous to other people but we could have cared less…we were totally consumed with our own group and having an amazing time. I’m so lucky to have had that experience and I hope that all the other Bees who are on this journey to the altar get to take time out to celebrate with your nearest and dearest in whatever way feels right to you!
