Oh dear. No, my Mum had me at 34, and my little brother at 37. Well all turned out fine! I’m not planning on having babies any time soon.

Lol some people are complete dicks. If 30 is too old to have babies I’m screwed 😛

daniellemc:  omg your coworker is a jerk. Don’t listen to him.  My coworker just had a gorgeous healthy baby boy and it only took her one try to get pregnant. On the other hand, I’m 32, 6 months pregnant and it took me about 4 months of trying. You’re not too old!  As long as your doctor says you’re fine,  you’re fine! Live your life and don’t have a baby until you’re ready.

Jeeze, I hope not! Fiance and I are 27 and agreed that we wouldn’t even start thinking about having kids until we turn 30!! Based on the many bees on here who are healthily having kids in their 30s and 40s, I think your coworker is clueless.

30 is the new 20 as far as having kids is concerned. I’m curious at to how old your coworker is and what’s the norm in his social circle. I just turned 30, not even married yet, and kids aren’t on my radar at all right now.

Back in my parents’ generation, 30 was considered older to have your first since many people married in their early 20’s. Actually, my cousins live in a more rural area than I and it’s not uncommon to get married and have kids in your early 20s.

Just ignore this guy.

30 too old? That’s one I haven’t heard before. My mom had my little sister at 37. My sister will be 11 in mid-September, and I will be 23 on September 2nd (she had me at 25).

It was riskier for her, but that wasn’t because she was pregnant. It was because there was a blood type or Rh incompatibility or something like that, I was like 12 years old when she told me about it so my memory is a bit foggy on the specifics.

Many people have babies in their thirties, and some even do in their forties. It really just depends on certain health/medical factors.

daniellemc:  30 is young. Some people have bought the idea that the woman’s fertile window is only in her early 20s. And many doctors will make a big deal about the woman’s age because all the fertility treatments they can push on people are a huge money maker.

daniellemc:  You are not too old! I’m 33, we started TTC when I turned 30. I had our first baby at 31 and another a few days after I turned 33. My body handled both pregnancies great and popped right back to normal. I feel great and love chasing after two little kids!
