So after a long phone conversation yesterday with a trainer friend of mine, she told me that unless he is a nutritionist, he cannot give me a food plan and tell me how many calories a day to eat. So he is breaking some rules.
She told me that we have similar body types and have similar workout schedules and she eats between 1400 and 1600 calories a day but she said it really is about doing what feels best for your body. I trust her 100 times over our trainer and I am doing a beachbody challenge through her right now. I am actually getting to eat way more types of food with this challenge and feel less likely to fail because I am not so restrictied.
I had to workout with my trainer last night. I pretty much didn’t talk to him. I’m finishing out the 2 months and then I’ll really let him know what I think about him.

@Mrs.SplatterPaint: if you’re eating clean 950 sounds right? there’s only 100 calories in a pound of spinach. i have no idea what an “eating clean diet” is…… 🙂 im just fyi-ing because i was a vegan and a veg for 10+ years so i know i could eat tons of “clean” food and feel full and satisfied, and i wasnt even close to 1200. and before anyone gets on me about protein…100 calories of spinach has more protein than 100 calories of beef.
i had a raging eating disorder in college so i KIIIIINDA know about the calories, but i dont know how well ill explain it:
so for petitie women, 1200 calories is what we burn to just live in a day–walking, sleeping, sitting, reading a book, breathing, etc. it’s no extra effort. our body just “burns” 1200 calories a day living. so everyday we refuel with food—that 950-1200 calories and this just helps to keep our body running. if you do this, you dont lose weight.
3500 calories = 1 pound.
-3500 calories = -1 pound.
so if you want to lose weight, you have to be in deficit. you eat the 950-1200 and youll burn that by just living a day…and then with working out you keep going until you’re -3500.
im NOT a dietician or a pt.

@Mrs.SplatterPaint: Is there anyway that you can report him? Does he work for a gym? Can you review him on Yelp or elsewhere?

I don’t know anything about being vegan or vegetarian but meat naturally has more calories than veggies so its easier for me to consume more calories. Also, your body, in order to properly function (organs and suck) burns 1200 calories. That’s not including what you burn from usual daily activity or working out. I’m not trying to lose weight now and my body burns more than 1200 calories a day so I need to be eating more than 950.

He owns his own personal training business so I cannot report him. I will try to write bad reviews after the contract is up.
