Never count your chickens before they hatch! Just look at the Big 10 alone… Michigan State should have sucked this year.  Now they’re 11-1 and stand a chance at beating Ohio State (sorry, but it’s the truth, especially if they play like they did today).  Michigan should have been at least ok. They’re 7-5, and only 3-5 in Big 10.  Ohio State should have blown Michigan out of the water.  That did not happen at all.

so, if you really OSU to go to the big game… Don’t worry Just yet.  It’s a jinx, haha.

As a Michigan fan who just moved to Columbus I say….Go Green!! (Ouch, that hurt) My Fiance is a huge State fan and is hoping they blow out OSU. We shall see.

BUT I fully support the idea of hitting a sports bar to watch OSU play. It’s a big part of your relationship and something you’ll both be focused on anyway. I think getting photos of the whole night unfolding will be something you’ll want documented to show people in the future.

Now if only Gardner would have ran in for the damn 2 point conversion on Saturday. Ugh.

I wouldn’t worry…yet.  They could lose to Michigan State and it is possible that an SEC team could be put in instead (I think that’s unlikely though).  If you’re undefeated in a major conference you deserve to go.  That’s the problem with the BCS and I’m glad it’s gone after this year.

Now I’m a huge college basketball fan and I never would have schedule my own wedding for any weekend in March or the first weekend of April.  I was Maid/Matron of Honor in a friends wedding and I had to remind her to schedule it for the second weekend of April, not the first (she’s as crazy as me).  It was that important to me!  Haha.

I’d move the party down to a sports bar if they’re in it.  Maybe you could even reserve some tables.  That’d be fun and definitely unique!

And yes…I would skip out on a wedding for a championship game (my team) if they had no TVs at their reception.  That’s how much of a fan I am.  I wouldn’t even apologize.  One thing to look for when you’re picking a date is if there are any big events that weekend.  It might not matter if you or your family aren’t fans or aren’t fans of anyone good but if you are you better be considering it!  But it sounds like you’re fine with just a shorter dinner reception!  I would definitely look into going to a sports bar if I were you!!

I’ll have to go for FSU though.  And for Auburn this weekend.

Lol, I can relate.  The first time I got married it was in the middle of the run up to the World Series… we had people all thru Dinner and afterwards running off to find a Tv / Radio (this is before the Internet) to check the score.  And altho memorable as a milestone day… it was a HUGE pain in the butt for our Wedding Reception.

+1. I think Michigan State is the best looking team in the big 10 right now. I think osu would lose to anyone in the top 5 right now, which is why I don’t think they deserve a spot in the ncg. Fsu and osu have played an easy schedule, but the big difference is fsu looks impressive week after week.

I normally don’t like Ohio State that much, but I’m hoping you win.  I want two Big Ten teams in BCS games (as it gives me the best bowl game for my own team, Go Hawks!), and Ohio State winning out is our best chance for it! Good luck!

As a girl who grew up in Ohio (and really isn’t glued to any sport) I always rooted for OSU when I moved to Michigan because that is just the way it is, dang it!

But…I am now firmly entrenched in a Spartan family and married to a Spartan as well.  While I was thrilled to see OSU win this weekend (makes the trash talk so much more fun), I don’t think OSU is a given if they go against the Michigan State Spartans.  The Spartans stomped the Wolverines 29 – 6 last month.

You may not have anything to worry about for your wedding day (which, sorry, but I hope the Spartans take the championship).  If you do, rock that wedding dress at the sports bar!  My last (and 4th) DD gets married next Summer and that girl loves her some football!  She would do it in a heartbeat for her Spartans.

DD originally had thought about getting married March 23rd.  I told her she’d better check the sports calendars because she is getting married in Lansing and if the Spartans were in the playoffs there wouldn’t be a room for miles around.  I just happen to know basketball playoffs occur then because they always happen around my birthday.

Go Green!!

I would wait and see what happens next week before getting upset. There’s a very high chance that Auburn or Missouri are going to the National Championship depending on who wins that game. Auburn is ahead of Ohio St in the computers, so they just need a few votes from the voters to put them over the edge. Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.

But since y’all love football and want to see the game and are fine with people keeping up the the score, if you do go to the NC it could end up being really fun if you win, but again that is unlikely.

@howsweetitis:  I completely understand!!!! I called our alma mater’s ticket office mannnnny times to confirm that our wedding date in fact a bye week and not just a yet to be scheduled Saturday before we booked our date.

Also, I spent much of a wedding at the hotel bar watching the Penn State v Ohio State game at a teeeny tiny game many moons ago. At least now guests will just watch on their phones? So they’ll still be at your celebration.

@howsweetitis:  Holy crap!

I went to a big football school (Texas) and I’ll be perfectly honest with you…I’d skip a wedding to watch Texas play in the National Championship haha. We won during my sophomore year and I can still remember the excitement. That being said, I wouldn’t skip my own wedding, but I’d definitely be checking my phone. It would be really hard to focus on the wedding festivities, as bad as that sounds. But could anything be better than getting married AND winning the championship on the same day?!

Texas beat Oklahoma (despite our dismal season) during my wedding weekend and even just that was the best thing ever haha.

I’d definitely go the sports bar in your dress! Fun!!

@howsweetitis:  haha I would have the same concerns if my team made it to the championship game!! Although I know my husband wouldnt let me plan a wedding in December or January for the reason that the wedding might interfere with any bowl game!

How fun would it be if yall did play and WIN on your wedding day?!

@howsweetitis:  My cousin was married on the same day the Jays won the World Series.  At one point my mum says she turned around and didn’t know where any of the family were… When she walked into the bar everyone was sitting there watching the game, including the bride (she’s a big baseball fan.)

I don’t really remember it, I was about 10.  But there are photos of her in the bar rooting in her dress.  And a lot of celebration photos after they won.
