I am SO SO SO excited!
Fiance and I are paying for the wedding all on our own and have been working like crazy to save for it. Ever since we got engaged last April we’ve talked about how a honeymoon most likely isn’t in the cards and I’ve not though about it at all because I didn’t want to get my hopes up.
Well, because we’ve been so good at saving, and because Fiance has worked a TON of OT (graveyard shifts too!) we looked at our finances and thought we might be able to afford one after all!
On top of our savings, we found out that we can use the points from our Visas towards the cost, so our combined points added $1000 bucks! I’m so stoked!
So we’ve booked 7 nights at the Beach Palace resort in Cancun!!! I’m so excited I could explode!
Things I want to do?
Lie on the beach.
What else do we need to do bees?!

I haven’t been yet since our honeymoon is in Novmeber but we are planning on going to Xplor adventure park. If your outdoors-y it had zip lines swimming and rafting through caves and atv’s you can drive through trails around the nature park.

The Palace hotels are phenomenal. Enjoy!
Ps I loooove coco bongos! Carlos & Charlie’s is fun too 🙂 the palace hotels always coordinate outings for their guests as well!

@deetroitwhat: Yay! Glad to hear you had a good time too! I don’t know anyone personally who’s stayed at the Palaces chain, but they reviews on Trip Advisor were so good!
When you say they coordinate outings, is that something we can do on the fly? Or is it something we need to book in advance? And if so, before we go there? Or do we sign up for a bunch of things as soon as we arrive?

Anyone else have advice about Cancun?

@MrsVandykins: We love Beach Palace! Been three times. Enjoy it All!

@MrsVandykins: ooh! excited I found this. We have a free week to any of the palace resorts (thanks to my grandpa who officially owns his timeshare this year) and we are choosing between beach palace and sun palace. What made you pick beach??
@sunkissed19: It had super good reviews on Trip Advisor. It’s #6 of 174 hotels in Cancun (Sun is #8). We could have gone with either, but i think we got a better deal price wise with Beach? Fiance did most of he research.
I’ve read Sun has a better beach and is more geared for adults.
But Beach is closer to the more active part of town.
The great thing about the Palace resorts is that you get access to all of them.

@MrsVandykins: i second xplor adventure park that @LullabelleK: suggested. it is amazing. we’ve been there a couple times. xel-ha and xcaret are also great.
you should take a taxi to playa del carmen’s 5th ave. they have a lot of shopping, bars and restaurants. from there you can take a ferry over to cozumel island.
chichen itza is great. it’s really hot there (not a lot of shade) so bring a sunhat and sunscreen. this trip is tiring so you may not want to plan much more for this day.
i have a house 3 hours from cancun so i am there and along the riviera maya all of the time. if you have any questions, feel free to pm me.

Congrats!! I am getting married at Beach Palace in May 2014 and have researched the hotel extensively!! lol. You have picked the best place ever and are going to have an amazing time.
Also make sure you check out the $1500 resort credit deal they always have there when you stay for 5 days or more. You can use your resort credits for an excursion, spa, wine upgrade, etc!!

@MrsVandykins: Fiance proposed at Moon Palace in Cancun in March- you will love it!! They usually have romantic dinner packages. We did Chichen Itza and I recommend it- we also did a day on a catamaran and went snorkling (also recommend)! There is also an amazing zipline (it was sold out and we didn’t get to go- guess we have to go back, lol. Plus, our catamaran stopped for a buffet lunch and it was right next to another palace resort so we ate there for better food- sweet! Do you have transportation from the airport and to your hotel and back? You can arrange it once you get there, but it was pretty pricey- like $80 I think for the round trip, and Moon Palace is closer to the airport than sun palace. Also bring bug spray- I was eaten alive by sand fleas- not a huge deal- some spray should do the trick. Have an AMAZING time!!

We just got back from the Mayan Riviera and loved it! We did an excursion to Coba. It’s not as far as Chichen Itza, and you can still climb the pyramid there. The excursion also included 2 ziplines, rappeling, swimming in a cenote, and a traditional Mayan lunch. The company that we used is called AllTourNative, and we would recommend them. Our guide Paco was great!
