(Closed) OMG the knot boards are terrible

I see what you guys are saying.  I think that the local boards are fine, but I honestly stopped looking at the rest of the boards.  First of all, it’s very cliquish – a core group of people basically stroking each other’s egos and trying to out-do each other in terms of how cool and laid back they are about their wedding, criticizing everyone else of being bridezillas for asking a question.

Lame.  I’m glad others have noticed…and I’m glad I started coming around here more often as my wedding is coming up 🙂  You girls have been very helpful so far.

Also, the Knot’s site is soooo buggy – the search function never works (but then you get flamed for asking a repeat question, god forbid) and I can’t stand the Knot TV banner that slows everything down.  Way too annoying to deal with when you’re just looking for advice or answers.

Ah Knot TV that drove me nuts. I would always come back on even after I had turned it off. The layout new and old are hard to read. The local boards there are fine. Wedding Bee is a lot friendlier.

I’m glad we have friendly bees on here. Thank goodness for that!

That is one of the reasons I left the knot.  One of my bridesmaids in pregnant (due in June!) and I posted that I was really excited for her when I found out.  I got accused of posting that just so I seem normal because so many girls are upset when their maids get pregnant.  WTF?  She is having her baby 6 months before my wedding! LOL.

So….I don’t know why I post this anymore because whenever there is a “Knot is Terrible” thread my posts for Knot are usually overlooked by everyone.

But. I say again and again. Not everyone on The Knot is horrible.

The girls on my local and month thread are actually quite nice.

You have to remember The Knot is a HUGE corporation with LOTS of members. It’s much harder to manage than WB.

I do agree there are a lot of nasty people on The Knot but there are a lot of good people on there as well.

Sometimes a little honesty is nice. Not everything is beautiful and sunshines and rainbows.

I haven’t been on the knot boards, but I have been consistently amazed at how supportive and friendly all the bees are.  I can’t say that I’ve seen one mean post here.  And ANY other boards out there for ANYthing, there are always people trying to ruffle feathers by being rude and obstinate.  You know – those people who post just to get reactions from people.  So frustrating.  I love it here!

@Gerbera – Amen. I think when I post to say that, it is often lost in the general wave of anti-Knot sentiment.

Not everyone on The Knot is mean, and honesty is sometimes refreshing. If I could change one thing about the Bee it would be bringing in some more blunt opinions rather than “It’s your day, you can do anything”-type commentary.

@Gerbera & @GirlwithaRing – You are absolutely CORRECT in saying that not ALL the knot members are bad. Everyone should take that into consideration because I am sure many of our own members are active members with the knot. I am sure I would be annoyed with mentioning this all the time to so I understand your concern.

And yeah, sometimes honesty is refreshing. I know I can take some blunt comments more than others but sometimes people come on to the Bee looking for sunshine and rainbows. Maybe I am wrong?!

I know my personal concern with my experience and it seems to be some other’s opinions is not the bluntness, it is the personal attacks. My first wedding site was the Knot for inspiration when planning. I liked the site and at one point was equally obsessed with it. BUT the one experience that I had where I was personally attacked crossed the line. I have never been so insulted in my life and I am sorry, there was no way I was going to be a part of an organization like that. The worst part was that the moderator of the board I was on wasn’t doing their job to protect others like me. It’s one thing to see very random attacks because the organization is so big but when there are a lot of people reporting the same experience, when do you stop excusing the company for it’s size and really looking at the big picture. Just because they are a large corporation, doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have control over what’s being displayed on their site. In the end they are responsible for this. BUT again that is my opinion.
