So I just called to check on my dress and to let them know that I have lost 30 pounds since I ordered it and SHE TOTALLY FREAKED ME OUT!
So I tried on a size 6 and it was a little tight so she said she was ordering an 8 and would take it in. WELL… She said that it was going to take too long to get in the 8 so they had to order a 10!!!!!! OMG! I was freaking because the 8 was going to be WAY TOO BIG and now it is a 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so scared that it is going to look horrible!
The one good thing that came from the conversation is that it is going to be in NEXT WEEK! So at least they have a some time to work on it… Has anyone had anything like this happen? Did your dress come out ok?

Oh boy that’s crazy. My sister-in-law ran into a smiliar situation. When she ordered her dress she was a true size 8 but the boutique insisted on ordering her a size 10. Since then she lost a lot of weight due to stress so she’s now a size 6. She had to go to about 3 or 4 alteration appointments in order to make the dress fit correctly. Her particular dress tied in the back … so you could tell that the dress wasn’t her true size since the “V” in the back was almost non existent. They had to sewn in 2 bra cups on each side. As far as the hips and under arms go I know they took that in quite a bit but the work was done well. I would recommend going with a REALLY GOOD seamstress!

Ah….she switched from an 8 to a 10 without consulting you?!Is she going to discount your alterations since she made the size change?

dont worry hun if they are good .. they will fix it

Def a problem with her not telling you that she switched sizes on you….look over your contract you signed for the dress and see what size it has listed. ……If it says 8 on there and she ordered a 10….well that means they violated the contract and without telling you…major NO NO….hopefully they will at least cover the cost of your alterations!!

@Mrs.em2hurley: You could fit into a size 6 and have lost 30 pounds since then? Wow, that’s a lot for an already small person.

Yikes, I agree! If they changed the size without consulting you, you would be well within your rights to ask for a full refund (not that it’s what you want) since they didn’t honor your contract.
Also, does anyone else think the “It was going to take too long to order an 8 so we ordered a 10” sounds like complete BS???
