- Wedding: May 2014
I haven’t been on here for so long — I’ve been busy finishing up my masters and, of course, doing ALLLL kinds of wedding work. A few updates:
Centerpieces – finally finished:
I had ideas and was collecting this and that but I FINALLY finalized the details. Half of the tables (which are long tables) will have a mixture of gold pails filled with babysbreath, antique oil lamps, and tealight candles. And then half of our tables will have these beautiful boxes my step dad made:
(We were trying to decide if we wanted well groomed babys breath, on the right, or wispy babys breath, on the left. What do you like better?)
We sent out our invites, ordered the food, and paid for the bar tab for the Rehearsal Dinner. Went and met with the owners of the brewery where we are having the Rehearsal Dinner and they are absolutely fantastic. Just need to pick up the plates, napkins, etc. for this evening and the rehearsal, Rehearsal Dinner, and welcome party are all taken care of!
Attire, Beauty, Etc.
My dress is still at the alterations but I went last week for a fitting and it looks great. They attached the sash I had purchased, hemmed, and are adding a bustle. I went with an underbustle so the poofs don’t distract from the great booty the dress gives me! I had a hair trial yesterday and OMG I loved it. It is just a friend of one of my maids of honor but she is FANTASTIC. Here it is — the front pic was right after it was done, back pic is after driving two hours. I’ve decided not to wear a veil so I love that she did something so beautiful in the back.
Plus here is a fun one after sleeping on it 🙂
I also purchased a cute little Wifey shirt for the morning after brunch: https://www.etsy.com/transaction/196269121?ref=fb2_tnx_image
This weekend was my bridal shower and bachelorette party. My friends tried to throw me a surprise event in February but my best friend ended up in the ER and so it got cancelled. This time around it went very well — they got a hotel room in a great hotel within walking distance to our favorite bars. We started with a mimosa bar and snacks — my maid of honor made this adorable cupcake cake — so cute! We were going to have a scavenger hunt but there was a terrible rain storm so we skipped that but did get to have a delicious dinner and then a night out which turned out to be a hilariously fun evening with some of my favorite people. Plus, I scheduled it the same day as my hair trial so I got to rock some great hair for it!
Gifts were killing me. I am known as a great gift giver so I was feeling a ton of pressure. Here’s what we ended up doing:
For the moms, from Fiance: https://www.etsy.com/transaction/196527898?ref=fb2_tnx_title
For the moms, from me: AHH — still looking. I know it will be a necklace but I haven’t picked them yet.
For my step dad, from Fiance: https://www.etsy.com/transaction/196522294?ref=fb2_tnx_title
For my step dad, from me (with his name, step father of the bride, and the wedding date on the front and a personal message on the back): https://www.etsy.com/transaction/196531167?ref=fb2_tnx_title
For FI’s mom and then for my mom and step dad: A family frame that we will tell them is for a photo of our new family at the wedding!
Maid/Matron of Honor 1: She’s in the peace corps so I got her this beautiful watch that has two faces so that she can keep time of both of her homes – http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/skagen-denmark-watch-womens-stainless-steel-bracelet-20sssmp?ID=374362
Maid/Matron of Honor 2: She’s also engaged and is literally the most crafty person I know. I was torn because I wanted to get her something sentimental but I knew she would lovelovelove a Silhouette machine. Per FI’s suggestion, which he thought was a joke, I’m making a vinyl sticker to put on it that has a personalized message to her so that seems like a more appropriate Maid/Matron of Honor gift!: http://www.amazon.com/Silhouette-SILHOUETTE-PORTRAIT-Portrait/dp/B009GZUPFA/ref=sr_1_4?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1398748144&sr=1-4&keywords=silhouette
Best Men: Fiance got them a golf shoe bag with their initials and then two wedges. I don’t speak golf so I can’t tell you more than that, but he was pretty pleased with the gifts! One of the ushers also got the shoe bag.
One of the ushers and one of our gift bearers who are guitar players: http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Pick—PaloozaTM-Customized-Guaranteed/dp/B00C7AFDVM/ref=sr_1_1?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1398748451&sr=1-1&keywords=guitar+pick+punch — This and then depending on what it looks like when we actually get it, we may take it to get engraved with their initials.
Others involved in the wedding (readers, cup ministers, etc.): A frame for us to take a photo together with at the wedding.
One of the personal attendants who is also doing our makeup: Naked 3 pallet — she’s been lusting after it for awhile 🙂
Still stuck on: the other two ushers, one of the cup minister who wouldn’t appreciate a frame, one of my personal attendants and my half sister who is the flower girl.
Here is a shot of my sister playing the giant Jenga game my step dad made.
We did our test boutonnieres with golf tees and they turned out great! I’m sending in our wholesale flower order tonight!
Finally found a decent price for our event insurance (we have our venue for six days so that shit was expensive most places — we ended up getting it for only $125 though)!
Got ahold of all guests and finalized attending list. Working on seating chart tonight!
Finalized readings and songs. Found an organist. Now just trying to finalize singers. Woof.
So, brides with one month or less — what do you have going on that you are super excited by? It’s almost here!
