@Pappy8:  If I were you I would fly down without the group…you can always fly back with everyone and you will have the whole trip to spend time with them all!

Don’t change the date – just change your and FI’s flight. It should be fun to get there in advance and be able to welcome your guests as they arrive.

Don’t panic!  Wait to see about Air Canada.  And I actually think there is nothing wrong with going early.  You’ll probably want to go over details with your coordinator anyway, let alone spend some quality time with fiance before all hell breaks loose.  This might actually be a blessing!

MX Destination Wedding horror story – my fiance’s best friend was packing for their Destination Wedding (the day before they departed…don’t even get me started!!) and realized that they couldn’t find their passports.  They think they left them in their car and they were stolen…6 months prior.  Anyway.  So they go to apply for emergency passports and find that he still has a military hold on his and he can’t leave the country!  So she actually had to go 2 days after everyone, and he showed up the day later after pulling apart a bunch of red tape, and they moved the wedding 2 days after that.  It all worked out in the end and everyone had a great time.

It will all be okay. πŸ™‚

I would seriously reconsider flying separately. In the grand scheme of things is it worth riding a plane with everyone when, if you do, you have to change your date, possibly find a new photographer (who isn’t your dream photographer) and many other headaches?! It sounds like it would be a lot of stress to change things now just because you won’t fly separately. If I were a guest I would totally understand you having to do that and would not be annoyed that the wedding was the next day. You can’t help that the airline did this! It’s not your fault!

@Pappy8:  Keep the wedding date!! No, it will not be annoying for guests, you are having a destination wedding- they are going to enjoy themselves!! (and honestly, if they don’t something is wrong with them!!)–I would consider flying the photographer out earlier with you both (as you mentioned) and scheduling her return flight for whatever works best for her!

Just find flights for you and your Fiance. Keep the date. Your guests won’t mind that the wedding is the day after. The only reason you’d need to allow more time for people to settle in would be for major time differences of like 4+ hours, and that’s not the case since you guys are just going south.

I’d say you should fly down at the original time and fly them down whenever you can before the ceremony.  Don’t change your whole wedding around just cus they can’t be there two days in advance! πŸ™‚

You and your Fiance should definitely just fly down a little earlier, it’s the best option to still keep ebverything else as planned!

I feel your pain! This exact same thing happened to me with Air Transat last month and our wedding is in Mexico this November.  We had booked everything with our TA and we paid AT our deposits!! I ordered our save the dates as well as invites.  I booked our wedding day with the resort, a hair and make up team, DJ and wedding lounge furniture. Then my TA calls to say AT bumped our entire group of 50 ppl from their Calgary departure!!  They overbooked the flight!  We had to change our travel dates to 3 days ahead.  I was freaking out for a week until I heard back from all the vendors confirming my new date.  We only lost then DJ, which is ok.  But I had to reorder all the save the dates cause they had already been printed!!  And the kicker is that AT can do this!!

All the best, in the end everything will turn out!

Here is a recommendation if you are up for it. You can have a legal wedding at home, justice of the peace, just you and fiance, no one needs to know but the 2 of you, then have your wedding as planned at the resort. It would be symbolic ceremony rather than a legal one. Just a thought and you won’t have to make any other changes.
