Wow, totaly wish I had any of the cute thin bodies I’ve seen posted! 🙂 As for the original poster- I just started a weight lifting class with a personal trainer (who’s got one of those totally crazy 8 pack abs!). When I asked him about toning and trimming my very substancial mid-section (and er….every section, really!) he said that he suggests running, wood chops (you hold a medicine ball up over your head/one shoulder and bring it down diaganolly over your body while you do a squat and come back up (that’s 1 rep). 2×15 for each side (so go right shoulder to left thigh, left shoulder to right thigh). It works your whole mid-section, your arms, back, legs- basically everything! Also, a varity of ab works besides crunches will do wonders (so he says, today is day 1 of a 3.5 month program he’s put me on!).
I would never post my belly, as the intertubes would explode and anyone who saw it would go blind from both its ugly size and its sheer whiteness. I’ll be honest and say that I have a good 120lb to lose. Maybe more.I’d like to get back to my weight when I 21.
For example, the first picture is of my shitty ex-boyfriend and I in Paris when I weighed about 150lb (a size 5/6) (6 years ago). The next one is me more recently, where-in I look like a land whale. *sigh* At least I’ve started to try to work the damage I’ve done to myself off (I’ve worked out for 1 whole week straight and I’ve lost 2.5lb already! Yay!)

@ DecemberBride – Way to go!! That’s so encouraging! Your before picture is pretty close to what I look like now, and your after picture is exactly what I want to look like on our honeymoon in June!

@decemberbride- your before picture looks almost exactly like mine! I hope my after picture looks like yours. Do you mind sharing your weight loss/toning regiment?

I would kill to have your stomach. Mine is so big I won’t post it. Every day I try to guess what month pregnant I am. Today I looked about 6 months. And I’m not pregnant!

@decemberbride – your before picture looks exactly how I look now! Like, you can see there’s definition in there somewhere, but it’s not right on the surface. You look ah-maz-ing in the second pic, you did a great job! I second everyone else on tips for how you lost the last little bit. I always find it easier to lose weight when I’ve really let myself go… but the point I’m at now, it’s harder for me to lose weight because I’ve been eating healthy and exercising at least a few times a week for a few years now.
I think we have some good looking Bees on here! You are all beautiful… we’re just hardest on ourselves, I guess!

@Lees.. girl I hope you did not take it the wrong way.. and Im sorry if it seemed harsh.. I just said my opinion.. But im also know for loving anaraxic girls.. I live in CA.. and people around here all about their weight (at least where I live).. All of our conversations here are always how to lose weight.. and if someone from not around here would see all the girls that are saying that they need to lose weight.. they would go crazy! Once again.. Im sorry and hope you didnt take it personally 😉

Known for loving anorexic girls? That doesn’t sound healthy.
IMO sinista you look like you have nothing to lose in the pic you posted… if you’d like to tone up a little more that’s awesome, but honestly if you lost more than a couple lbs you’d probably wither away!
@decemberbride you’re a TOTAL inspiration! How did you do it? You look so healthy and lean!

I totally understand wanting to tone up and flatten your tummy (even though you look great as is). Getting a flat tummy is actually easier than slimming up other parts of your body, like upper arms or thighs. When I do intense cardio/core work my tummy gets flatter pretty quickly. I’ve done the Shred, Pilates, and Billy Blank’s Boot Camp Abs video. All of these help. Good luck!

@Lees – I’m looking at a body that I wish I had, especially now with the “cute” baby bump growing. My thoughts are what the heck am I going to look like after…
Here’s my current belly shot 🙂

Thanks, ladies! 🙂
Well, it was easy to lose the first few pounds because when I started, I had not been dieting or exercising. I started slow, and made small changes to my diet at first. I started working out twice a week (intense weight lifting and short bursts of cardio) and logging what I ate. I made simple changes, like only eating whole grains and elimintating refined carbs. I started taking my lunch so I knew exactly how many calories I was getting, and I started drinking a ton of water.
3 months before the wedding, I kicked it into high gear and started P90X (5 times a week) and really monitored my eating. I ate a ton of lean meats and veggies and fruits, and skipped on things like sugar. I also started monitoring my sodium intake. I didn’t “crash diet” or anything like that because I didn’t want to gain all my weight back after the wedding. I just took it slow, one meal at a time.
Good luck, girls! I know you’ll be such beautiful brides!

I wish i was as tiny as you! Maybe someday, if I ever get there (don’t hold your breath) I’ll post a pic. But man, you have an AWESOME body.
RoddyBride09: I love you belly shot! 🙂 thats what mine looks like, but i’m not pregnant!!!!

Lees you’re awesome!
I don’t really have any shots of my belly. hehe. Maybe I’ll get my SO to nab some tonight. I’m a rock climber and particularly like to climb roofs/overhangs. It takes a lot of core strength so I tend to have fairly defined abs. I also run a couple times a week to keep any flabby stuff off. I have my vices (good beer and ice cream) but I keep myself on a strict organic diet the rest of the time.

@Rosie Girl – Thanks! The funny part is that the way my body held my body fat was in my butt, thighs and lower belly so even when I wasn’t preggie I had the thin upper abs and the pooch. My sister was always telling me how it didn’t make any sense and I totally agree with her. Now that I am preggie and the pooch is becoming bigger, at least temporarily I can blame it on the baby 🙂

You know everyone, I think women are supposed to have a little curve to them on their bellies. I think flat stomachs are largely a myth. Being in shape and toned up is all well and good, but a totally flat stomach is just not even a worthwhile goal to me because I think it goes against our genetics. At one point in my life I was rather underweight and I still had a little roundness to my stomach!

I do understand the feeling that you need to tone up, as I am in that situation as well, but I’m going to be a little too honest here and say that I think it’s a bit inconsiderate of you to be complaining about yourself here when there are so many people who are larger than you who are probably looking at this board feeling bad about themselves in comparison. I think it’s important for a woman to be comfortable in her body no matter what size or shape she is, and I think a skinny little thing like you fishing for compliments doesn’t really help women with real body issues. Not to mention that the media is largely responsible for the idea that women have to have completely flat stomachs. As far as I can see, your stomach can’t get much flatter. That ‘pudge’ that you seem to be seeing looks more like a curve in your spine than anything else.
