I think that this is crap. There’s no reason to have one policy one place and another at another. You may not get any satisfaction about this, but the good thing about etsy is that you can give bad feedback, right?

@Lepidoptera:  If it is the same person running both stores — yes.

Is it nasty? Yes.
Is it horrible? Yes.
Is it ideal? No.
Can she get away with it? Yes.

This person sounds like a reseller, personally. Resellers are people who buy bulk items and re-sell them for higher prices. Resellers aren’t supposed to be on Etsy. Etsy claims it is a “100% hand made marketplace” but resellers bring Etsy the most money, so they don’t really do anything about it.

Buying from resellers reinforces that it’s okay for this kind of stuff to happen. If you are not interested in something hand made by a (usually) small company, look somewhere else. Etsy is not meant to be a “I can buy it cheaper there” marketplace, but that’s what it is turning into and it is ruining Etsy. I come from another community of crafters who legitimately need Etsy as their sole source of income due to many issues, and resellers are taking food out of these peoples mouths simply because people can get something cheaper on Etsy as opposed to someone who fashioned it from sweat, blood and tears.

I despise Etsy and I encourage everyone to research their seller, but not everyone cares, so..

But ultimately, she can get away with it. Etsy will not back you because she did something that fell within her policies. At most, you could get them to possibly investigate her as a reseller (although this chance is very slim) there isn’t much you can do.

She is in a good way to get herself a bad reputation. I don’t understand why people treat customers like that. I almost ordered a bolero from her! So glad I didn’t!

Yes that is perfectly legal. I used to work at a retail store where you had 10 days to return an item bought in store but 30 days for an item bought online. It is not HER fault that you didnt’t read the shop policy before ordering and I think it would be very unfair to her to do a chargeback. However if you insist on thinking you’re in the right, at least tell her you will be doing a chargeback and let her give you the chance to return it minus shipping costs. You should not punish her because you are too inattentive to read shop policies.

@Lepidoptera:  I don’t think she was rude or nasty at all. Just matter of fact. You didn’t read the policy so it is your mistake, period. It’s funny how argumentative you’re being with PP. seems to me like you’re the one with the bad attitude.

I don’t think the seller was rude but then again I come from a city full of rude people So her attitude is nothing to me. I would be interested in how this turns out…

She’s right tho, it is common sense. The return policy is so detailed and explicit on her site, you will have a hard time disputing it. Tell your credit card company ‘I made a mistake by not reading the right website but I still don’t want to pay for the item.’ I’m sure they will be falling all over themselves to take care of this. So entitled.
