If you are concerned (because taking BC and being pregnant can’t be a good thing) take a early response test to see. And ironiclly, just had a friend find out for the SECOND time she was pregnant on the pill, sometimes even being a couple hours off can whack up your cycle and… oops! Take a test now and if it is positive, you know. If it is negative and you get your period next week, you know. If you test negative now and don’t get your period next week, test again. The tests aren’t that expensive and are well worth your sanity!

My mom got pregnant on the pill twice, resulting in me and my younger brother. It’s totally possible. Go pee on a stick! If it’s positive, congrats! If it’s negative, do another one if your period doesn’t come on time. If that one is negative, I’d do another about a week later because it can sometimes take a while for there to be enough hormones to test. False negatives are a lot more common than false positives.

I got pregnant while on the pill a few years ago. I didn’t know I was pregnant though until I miscarried.

I got pregnant while on the pill, taking it perfectly.

Having symptoms a week before your period is due is pretty rare, though. Also, a home pregnancy test usually won’t test positive as far out from your period as you are. You’d need to wait until a day or two before, and then keep testing until several days after it is due to get a more accurate picture of what is going on!

How long have you been on the pill? Did you just start, or did you change pills recently?

Part of the way that the pill works is that it makes your body think you are pregnant so that you don’t ovulate. So a lot of people (including me) get pregnancy symptoms, even though we’re not pregnant. I gained over 2 cup sizes after going on the pill, so it’s definitely not unusual for your boobs to get bigger. I also get nausea from time to time.

You have to take the pill at the exact same time every day for it to be the most effective, being off by even half an hour changes the effectiveness. So, you definitely could be pregnant!! I don’t think continuing your pills until the end of the pack will hurt, but you could also go off of them until your period and start over and just use protection for the week following starting them again.

I think it’s unlikely you would be having pregnancy symptoms a week before your period is due, but I also think it’s possible you may have ovulated if you haven’t been taking your pill at the same time each day. I always heard you have a two hour window in which to take your pill before it really starts to become less effective. So, if you take your pill at 9 one day and 12 the next, it’s possible to get pregnant, I’d say.

That’s my thread up there, so yeah, it can happen.

OP, since you already tested and got BFN, I think it’s unlikely you are pregnant.  If you’re already experiencing nausea, boobs growing, etc. (and those symptoms actually are the result of pregnancy and not imagination running away with itself) I would think you must be producing enough pregnancy hormones to show up on a test.  I don’t think it matters that your “period” (it’s not a real period) is still a week away.  The pill is supposed to stop you from ovulating, so if you did ovulate and get pregnant, that could have happened at any time and is not tied to when you expect your withdrawal bleed.  Maybe test again in a week or so, just to be sure.
