Okay bees, last month I thought I had found THE ring. I stopped looking at any others, my bf liked it a lot (I think me being overly excited about it helped solidify his opinion real quick) and I thought that’s it, this is my dream ring.
Wellllll….fast forward over a month later and now I just don’t know! I spoke to my bf about it tonight and LUCKILY he didn’t place the order yet for the ring, and now I’m, well, confused. I don’t want to get advice from my friends because it’s such a personal decision that I don’t want to discuss with them and I also feel like they won’t be completely honest. I feel like they will sugar coat and I just want honest opinions of whether you think this ring is pretty or if you think it’s “too much”. My ring size is 5.15 and lately I’m looking at this thinking that the halo on the ring completely takes away from the center stone. I feel like it has so much going on that the center stone sort of gets over shadowed by the halo, the milgrain, and the bulky underside of the ring along with the design. I have recently begun looking at solitaires with channel or paved diamonds along the setting and I am beginning to think that I’d rather have something like that. Something very elegant and simple, rather than bold and bulky. And what do you think of the wedding band with the ring? I feel like it looks weird cause there is too much of a gap and I don’t want a bent or curved wedding band.
Please share your honest opinions of what you think of the ring. I will also post pics of the solitaire ring that I liked so you can compare the two different rings and which you like better. Both rings have real diamonds on the setting and the halo, also. The center stone on both is a CZ. A diamond would be put in after it has been bought.
Thanks so much bees! I really appreicate you opinions and help on this. My bf likes both and he tells me that really he will love whatever I love and that all he cares about is that it’s a ring that I a adore and want on my finger.
So here they are:
1.) The round diamond in the cushion setting (ring I’m on the fence about)…
2.) Solitaire with paved diamonds (I would get this ring or something that looks like a Tiffany solitaire with paved diamonds on the setting.)
Sorry for the huge pics! I have no idea how to make them smaller.

The first E-Ring is certainly stunning… but unless you get a custom made W-Band, then you’ll be stuck with the gap… which I personally feel is TOO BIG (like though how both the rings match)
The second E-Ring is by far my fave. And it should be a lot easier to find a W-Band to work with it.
Hope this helps,

I voted for the second ring. I personally like it better. But I have never been a big fan of halos and it really will be hard to find a band to go with it. But if finger coverage is more important to you then halo is the way to go.

It looks like the first is kinda raised so you might be able to find a wedding band but I prefer number 2. Number 1 kinda looks like it ate your finger…number 2 is stunning in its own way.
Just a warning I am biased because I have a round stone but I think I’d agree with you that theres too much going on with number 1 but it would be unique and not a lot of girls would have one like it. I agree with you though that it is bold and bulky.
However if you are looking for simple elegant (and timeless classic) then number 2 is the way to go.
The first ring in this thread is sort of a mix of your number one and number 2, is something like this an option for you? http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/please-show-me-pics-of-cushion-cut-paved-rings-with-no-halo-ill-start

I like ring number two far better on your hand.
But really, either way you cannot go wrong 🙂

@Mrs Christopher: That cushion ring in that thread is stunning. For the longest I was debating between round and cushion, which is why I think I so quickly fell in love with the round diamond in the cushion setting halo, it gave me both in one ring. Unfortunately, I don’t know how I feel about halo’s now.. or that ring.
The first ring is def raised, a lot. Yea, I think maybe if I find a thin band, it would fit closer to it than this particular one.
Thanks everyone for your input! Would love to hear more!

I personally like ring 1 better. I think it looks perfect. I don’t like it the gap with the wedding band though.
I’m just not a fan of how thick the band on ring 2 seems. It just doesn’t seem proportional.

I reeeeeeally like ring #1 with the cushion, it is absolutely stunning and I don’t think it’s bulky at all! I cannot say anything bad about it! I love it, the detailing and everything is just stunning, I see why you fell in love with it 🙂 I like the look with the gap (biased, have one myself), I think it gives room for both rings to shine. However if you don’t like it you can wear them on different hands. I feel that #2 is a little boring compared to ring #1, sorry if this is what you’re leaning toward now. I just think that the first one looks perfect on your finger and the other one just blends in, I noticed the watch first (which is an awesome watch!). You could also wear #1 as a wedding ring, solves the gap problem.

I think the second looks a lot more elegant on your finger

I went with ring 2. It’s gorgeous and a bit more subtle which would be my preference

i love the second ring, personally the first one is to big on your small hands. Just my opinion though

I really love #1 on you… But what kills it is the wedding band :/ it also looks a bit too big.
I feel like the band is too thick on ring #2. If it were thinner I’d go with this one

I love the second. I also think it will date better.

I voted for the second (round solitaire on the pave setting). Although I’m just about to change my setting to a halo, I think given the centre size of your stones on your finger, I think they are a beautiful size to be featured on their own (my centre stone is smaller but if I did have a centre that was 1.5 or greater, I’d want it on its own). I think that as you said; with the solitaire, it’s beautiful and big enough to sit on its own. And it’s very classy. Plus, it just looks gorgeous on your finger! Now, if you’d like for something that looks as big as possible, then go with the halo 🙂

I like the second one better. The halo is really pretty on you but as you said the “elegant and simple” solitaire would look better with the wedding ring.
