im not a fan of halos, too chunky.  I think the second one is more elegant, but may look even better with a thinner band

So I’m torn. I think number 1 might be a touch on the large side for your hand.  That said, I think the pave stones in 2 are either too big for the size of the center stone, or there are too many (is it a 3-side pave? I can’t tell from the pic).  I feel like in 2, the setting kind of overpowers the center stone.  I think it would look better with a smaller pave band on the e-ring, then you could jazz it up with another pave band for your wedding band.

I think the halo ring looks a little chunky. It’s great for now, but I can see it being a pain later in life. I never thought I’d get a solitaire, but I am glad I did because it is timeless, delicate, and easier to clean. My friends with halos love them at first, but have all complained about banging the side stones (and them popping out) and that all of the bling makes it grimy easily and less sparkly.

I chose #2, because I feel like that first style is jus too popular. However, I feel like the band on the seonxd one is a bit thick- perhaps aone less row of pave would highlight the center stone better.

I prefer the solitaire because the halo is quite bulky. The solitaire is still quite striking and it’s more delicate and feminine, IMO.

I like the solitaire because I think the halo is too bulky and I think you would have a hard time getting a band to match up without a huge gap. I am not a fan of halo’s in general though. While they are pretty they just aren’t practical for me.

I like the 2nd ring best.  One because I’m so sick of seeing halos.  Two, I think it looks better on your hand.

I absolutely think that the first ring is STUNNING.  I love it and I think it’s very beautiful.  However, I voted for the second ring because of the gap.  Still, I don’t think that’s the ring you’re going for.  I’ve seen that ring in person and it USED to be the ring I wanted until I saw it on someone who had it for a while and realized that the pave doesn’t sparkle the way pave should sparkle.  I think it gets dirty when it’s on the band/on a hand and it takes away from the beauty.  I have since changed my mind and decided I want a ring like pinkshoes’s (check your other thread, she posted it). Coming from a girl who used to want the halo and changed her mind to the pave, I feel like we both want the same thing and when I saw this setting, I knew that this was “it” and I have yet to change my mind.  The only question in my mind now is how big I want the center and side stones to be.

Here’s a pic of the ring I want:

I love halos, so I usually choose those right away.  Reading your post, though, I think you should go for the second setting.  It’s very lovely, and it sounds like you would be happier with it.

I think you are completely right about the halo on the first ring making it too busy and taking away from the center stone. I very much prefer the more classic look of the second ring.

Maybe I’m biased because I have a round halo ring with pave band, but I love the first one. It’s totally unique and really stunning. The second one is okay but I think the center stone is overpowered by the band.

I’m a huge fan of halos, so normally I would pick #1.  However, this particular ring just looks a little bit too chunky for my taste (and I’m normally a lady that likes more substantial rings).  Maybe it’s the basket; I can’t put my finger on it, but while it’s very pretty, something just seems a bit off.

Ring #2 is pretty but I am not a huge fan of pave.  As others have said, pave doesn’t really *sparkle*, you get more of a glistening effect (not knocking on anyone’s ring – this has just been my observation as I was looking at settings a lot since I had my stone reset) Plus there are also issues with the tiny diamonds falling out of pave settings, so just be aware that you may have more maintenance with that kind of setting vs other settings.

So my vote is for neither.

I love the 1st ring!! I think it is absolutely stunning!! Where did you find it? I do think it looks a tad big on your finger, since your hand is so petite, so if you went down just a little in ct size, it would be perfect!

I like the first because the band is more delicate. I actually think the thicker pave band on the second way takes away from the center diamond more than the halo does. The center stone just sort of blends in.
