I was talking to FH the other day with a couple of our friends. We were on our front porch and our friends asked what that big building up the street is. I answered the county court house (it’s seroiusly 2 blocks away). Then friends commented so, you could just walk up to the court house on some random day and get married because you live so close.
That got me thinking. Why not? We’ve been together for over 5 years engaged for over 4 years, why not just get married and plan a big blow-out for either later in the year or next spring (when we are tentatively planning on getting married). I don’t know, what do you ladies think?
Would you do it? What would be your worries/regrets about doing it?

I think this idea gets asked alot on here. Couples wonder “what are we waiting for?” and think about just getting married, yet they also feel the desire to celebrate with family and friends with some sort of gathering.
This big-blow out you are discussing – is it a big celebration party? Is it a wedding redo? Is it a vow renewal?
I guess think about what is it you two really want – or compromise on what you both want (if they are different).
Do you just want to be married simply? Do you want to be married on a great trip alone? Do you want to be married in front of friends/family (tons or just a few?)? Do you just want a great party at some point?
You said you’ve been engaged for 4 years. Is there any plan on the table? Or just idling along, waiting for some idea to POP out at you guys?

Sienna76 provides some good food for thought. Deffinitely take some time to figure out what the two of you want. just for the sake of being correct, Wisconsin has a 6 day waiting period for marriage licenses to be valid so you would need to plan a little. 😉

After all the stress that comes along with wedding planning I keep asking myself why the heck we did’nt. I say go for it! That way you get to be married and have an amazing celebration with your friends and family without all the stress!
