@simone_s:  dress was in perfect condition, I had her privately send me pictures of the actual dress. I split the cost of shipping with her (paid through paypal) and my dress came within 5 days

I found mine on OnceWed but the listing had sold and the seller had forgot to remove the listing. Found the same one on ebay and had a wonderful experience. Just ask a lot of questions and make sure that you’be tried the silhouette on enough to know if it looks good on you. I ended up buying a $1500 dress for $300! @simone_s:  I bought mine off preownedweddingdresses.com and it was a sample, NWTs.
I found the listing online, found the dress in the same size in a local shop, tried it on 2 days later, and purchased from preownedweddingdresses at 5pm the same night. 🙂
Shipment was super fast.
I saved about 80% off of full retail.

I will be selling my dress using the same site, once I’m able to emotionally part with it.

Did anyone buy a dress online but have a chance to try the actual dress on from the seller?

I found my dream gown on PreOwned, but I have not been able to try the actual dress on. At the salon, it is $50 to have the dress shipped to the store, but the sample is an 8 (and is Lazaro which runs smaller than normal bridal sizes). I am plus size, so I wouldn’t even be able to fit into the sample.

Would it be weird to request a chance to try the dress on before purchasing? Logistically, how does that work?

@simone_s:  Thank you! I love it! just plug in the maximum amount you want to pay and your size and search! Dont give up and don’t settle! Oh my gosh I almost bought a dress new in the store that I didn’t like nearly as much! Also, try on as many different styles and silhouettes in the store as you can so you get a good idea of what you like and what looks good and what size you are!

Hi! This discussion is a touch dated, but I wanted to add (in case anyone else finds this):

I bought a wedding dress on Tradesy (>350$) and the dress did not arrive in the condition advertised. It was listed as “New With Tags” and showing “No Signs of Wear.” When it arrived, it did not have the original tags, had multiple snags in the embroidery and two (in the front) in the silk.

I contacted customer service via their chat option (which seems to be always well-staffed! Good job there.) and was informed that because the item is in their “wedding” section, the standard return policy does not apply. I checked their return policy prior to ordering, and it was NOT made clear that the EXCEPTION to their policy was the ENTIRE WEDDING SECTION. The ENTIRE wedding section!!

My recourse is, at the moment, to work directly with the seller. Should the seller refuse a return — even for a mislisted item — Tradesy has told me they will help by “urging” the seller to work with me.

I think this seller is an honest person, so I hope we can work this out. That said, TRADESY’s policy of NOT STANDING BY THEIR CUSTOMERS (and not making their sometimes-this-sometimes-that return policy clear) is BAD BUSINESS! BEWARE!!

I get the feeling that this doesn’t happen all the time on Tradesy, I am just really disappointed with their “Wedding Exception” returns policy (especially for mislisted items). It’s worth KNOWING BEFORE YOU BUY, that your purchase — regardless of how it arrives! — – is considered FINAL by Tradesy!
