@COlson:  I  bought my dress on oncewed.com. There are legit buyers out there. But if you don’t feel comfortable selling to them, then don’t.

I sold my dress on there.  I had no issues, but I think when using any online forum to sell something, make sure you’re extra careful and take the right security precautions.

I think I would actually prefer face to face exchanges.  Meet in a public place like a mall with a bank.  Tell them cash only and you’ll verify the bills at the bank and the dress is theirs!

Hmm. I haven’t heard anything about oncewed being any sketchier than anywhere else, but definitely trust your instincts if something seems to be off about the interaction. If they don’t know where you are located, it’s unusual that they would just straight up offer to come pick it up.

@COlson:  They *might* just not want to pay for shipping. Or they want to try it on first? Did you say local brides could try on the dress or provide any indication of your area?

I have my dress listed on Oncewed.com, and I just got an email from a buyer. I really really hope it is legit. I have had a handful of scammy emails, and I really would just like to sell it to someone honest!!

I listed it there and on here, I’ve gotten scam emails as well. If they are offering to have a shipper to come get it, it’s a scam. If they mention sending you “extra” money to hold it, it’s a scam. Be very careful, but there are some legit buyers out there.

Its a scam… Same thing happened when i listed my dress. I looked into it and its definitely a scam. I immediately got an offer the next day from some “marine” at sea looking to buy it as a gift for his sister for her wedding. He said he only used paypal and would send someone to pick it up. Very strange.

I’m confused, wouldn’t using PayPal protect you?  I thought they verified the payment so that it protected the seller and the buyer?

I got one offer that was a scam on OnceWed, it was the same deal, gift for sister, will be picked up, PayPal. It is a PayPal scam, they get the dress and cancel the payment after saying they didn’t get it.

@WaitWhat:  You’re kidding?!  I didn’t think they could do that!  I would hope that people could prove items were shipped and keep the money.  I hate a thief!

@Luv2BeachIt:  I didn’t think it was possible either, but I researched some potential scams. I don’t know much about it other than a few Google searches. No one has contacted me about the dress since then. :-/
