I posted a dress poll a few days ago, and thanks so much for all the votes. You’re seriously helping me so much especially since I shop alone. Here’s the original post:
Need more dress help (lots of pics)
With your help, and listening to my gut I’ve narrowed down the dresses in that poll to #1, #3 and #4. Then last night, I tried on a dress that I feel combines my favorite elements of each of those. BUT – I’m not sure it’s as flattering on me as any of those.
It’s a Demetrios dress. I think the consultant gave me the wrong number by accident, because I can’t find it anywhere. If you know it, please let me know. OR if you’ve seen others similar to this, I would love to see it, so feel free to share.
So…here it is, with it’s likes/downside.
Likes: Combines many elements I’ve liked in other dress. Has the sparkly beaded top. Has satin rusched (sp?) middle. Has sparkly lace. Has corset back. Has straps that I will remove and then add along the corset in the back (similar to the beading on the back of #1). Has a slightly fuller skirt but not huge (may try a petticoat, but not sure I need it). Has a detailed train.
Downside: Mom doesn’t like fuller skirts and pickups and may not like the skirt of this one (she hasn’t seen it yet). Not sure about the pickups down the back, although I do like how it would bustle into them. MONEY – about $500 more than the other dresses.

this dress is my favorite, it looks amazing on you! My 2nd fav is dress number 4 from your first poll.
Good luck choosing 🙂

Gosh, this is such a tough call. I still love #3 and 4 from the other poll, and had voted for #4 at the time, but now I really want to vote for #3! I love this dress too, but love the simplicity of #3 on you…You can’t go wrong, all 3 of those dresses (this new one and 3 and 4 in the other poll) look awesome on you!!

this dress looks just like Maggie sottero’s sabelle. idk how much the dress you have on is or what the budget is. but this maggie dress is like 1600 if that is helpful:

Honestly I love this one the most but I can understand not wanting to spend $500 more. Of the other ones I like #1 and #3. I really didn’t like #4 but that is just me. Though I do love sparkly lace and Casablanca makes one I just tried on and love because it made my waist look smaller. Of the others I loved #2 for the same reasons you did and didn’t love it for similar reasons to yours. I think this last dress corrects those flaws.

I feel this dress is way way too busy. It looks like there are too many elements in one gown and totally take away from you. If you really want this, then go for it but it looks very dated to me – I’m not a big fan of the pickups because they look like victorian civil war wanna be to me. In just one gown there’s rouching, glitter, lace, satin, pick ups, lace ups, you name – it’s there.
My recommendation is to go with fabric that photographs beautifully – skip the sparkle and multiple designs and focus on your neckline and bodice as this will be featured on all of your closeup photos.
Most importantly – it’s not your mom’s wedding so what she likes and doesn’t really doesn’t matter, ithis day is about you – if you are getting that magic feeling, that’s the gown. If you are the fence about any dress, move on to the next. When it’s right, you’ll know. Just my 2 cents, I’m very opinionated so I hope I didn’t step on your toes. Go with your gut instinct, you’ll know when you’ve put the gown on.

I ike #3 from the last poll. This one has too much going on with the pickups and lace…it honestly looks off balance from both front and back. Sorry.

I like dress 3 from the other poll. It is beautiful. 🙂

@sfchick: Thanks for being so opiniated.
My problem is I don’t think I’m one of those brides who just knows when they put on a dress. I’m more the type that has to try on as many dresses as I can then figure out which one(s) I just keep thinking about and can’t get out of my mind. And pick from those.
I really appreciate everyone’s feedback. It definitely helps me see things in the dresses I maybe didn’t notice before (both good and bad).

I like one, three, and four from your other poll way better than this one. Four is still my fav but all three look amazing on you. I don’t think this one does anything for your figure as the other ones do.

Love this one! Beautiful.

I agree with @sfchick that this one tries to incorporate too many elements. And admittedly, I’m not a fan of pickups. So I still vote for #4 from your other post, and I also like #3 (but #4 is most flattering to your figure).
Having said that, just as you should not choose a dress based on what your mother likes, you also should not choose a dress based on our votes! Go for the dress that makes you feel most beautiful. Usually that’s the one you can’t get out of your head, no matter how many other dresses you like!

@NotYourTypicalBride: The problem is that I would be a 4 (or more) dress bride if I didn’t get some help from my mother, friends, and of course you bees. I really like them all for thier individual elements and they all make me feel beautiful. I could see wearing any of the dresses I’ve posted on my wedding day.
