I recently broke up with my long term boyfriend and had my first ever one night stand a month after the breakup. I met the guy in a club and we ended up going back to my apartment. He was great, we talked most of the night and he didn’t leave the next day until the late afternoon. He left without asking for my number or even my last name so I just presumed that would be that. Anyway, I wake up a week later to a facebook request from him. I don’t have any clue how he found me as he only had my first name and where I go to college. I’m not sure whether to take that as flattering that he searched for me or creepy. I accepted, but the thing is he hasn’t written to me or anything since i accepted. Is it normal for someone you slept with to add you but then not want anything to do with you? Has this ever happened to any of you? Sorry I’m quite new to this whole thing but I’m wondering should I make the first move? it’s probably too soon for me to date but I think it would be nice to maybe have some sort of a rebound?

nevcro : Absolutely make the first move if you would like a rebound fling. He’s probably in reality a bit embarrassed that he was forward enough to find you on facebook, that it might come across as a bit stalkerish. If you just want a fling though, be very clear about it. Have fun!

nevcro : yeah but he could be looking for a regular hook up. It could be you get a great friends with benefits situation but you both need to be really clear about what you both want. Proceed with caution – as in don’t assume because he’s looked you up he wants more than a replay – but also know there’s an option for fun if that’s what you want together. Just guard your heart, and his if you think he’s falling for you and it’s not what you want.

Did you say anything to him after the FB request?
If he took the initiative to reach out and friend you, I’d say it’s now your turn to reach out to him if you want further contact.

BookishBee : no I really don’t know what to say to him. I presumed he would initiate contact because he went out of his way but now I’m thinking I should write before it gets too late. He added me on sunday night, so it’s been nearly 3 days. Thanks for your replies!

nevcro : He initiated contact by sending the friend request. The ball’s in your court now, let us know how it goes!
