Does he have vertical places to go, away from you, Fiance and Pickles??  We have been watching a lot of My Cat From Hell on Animal Planet with Jackson Galaxy, and its pretty amazing the things he can do to change a cats behavior around. I would definitely go online and do some research to see what you can find out to try to help Jack become a better family member. Hope you can find something that helps!

@MrsSl82be:  Agreed! Our cat’s aggression went down a LOT once he had hide corners and access to high spaces so he can survey his “domain” haha. If a cat feels grounded it can make them feel powerless. They might start to lash out to sort of claim their space/rank in the household.

Welcome!!!  We got a new pup a few weeks ago, and the cat and him aren’t taking too kindly to each other, so we built shelves for him in one of the corners so he can get up high away from the dogs, and also a cat walk along the long wall in the living room. We have a friend whose an engineer, so he’s going to help us build some really cool stuff for him.

Of course, we own our home, so we can do whatever we want, and if you are a renter, that might not be an option. Does he like to look out the window and check out the outside world?? Get him a windowsill bed so he can lay in the window and check out the world.

I am honestly amazed at how many of the problem cats on that show are fixed by having vertical space, and more places to go and “explore” within. Also, make sure he has plenty of places to scratch. They like being able to stretch and scratch, so we have some things in the basement, and a couple on the main floor as well for him

These are the kind of cat shelves I’m talking about for the wall

Here’s a windowsill ledge

Feliway diffuser. Also Calming Essence (a flower essence combo). I have 30 + cats in the cat house of the sanctuary and both help a lot!

Our cats, all three of ’em, are getting along better now that they seem to have sorted out who has what territory in the house, so I agree with finding a space for Jack. The only fights are at bedtime when they all want to be in the bedroom with us but during the day, they generally keep out of each other’s way.

@MrsSl82be:  I also watch this show and am amazed by the solutions he comes up with!

OP, I suggest you try to watch a couple episodes of this show and get some ideas. I think the vertical space suggestion is great. Do you have a cat tree?
