My father recently passed away, and I am now forced to reconsider how to approach my wedding day without a very important person. I have decided to split the traditional father/daughter dance with my two (much) older brothers.
Since I was a kid, my dad’s and my “song” was always a toss-up between I Wanna Hold Your Hand by the Beatles and My Girl by the Temptations. When I first heard Glee’s cover of the former, I knew that that was the song I wanted to dance to with my dad, since it’s slow. And now that he’s gone, all I wanna do is hold his hand again. I played the song for my oldest brother (not letting him know its singer :P) and we both sobbed. It’s perfect.
But now the problem is… how do I “split” the song? It’s only two minutes long! I want more than a minute with each of them. Do I chose a song for each of them and play it back to back? Double-play the song? Only dance a minute with each? Only dance with my oldest brother, the one I’m closer to, the one who is more fatherly?
