I had a cathedral length veil for our wedding too.  I just took it off for the reception.  I had pretty combs in so that was enough.

@jnj02152014:  Why? seems excessive. just take it off for the reception and don’t wear one.

I love the cathedral veil for the ceremony because it is so grand.  So that is what I did for my wedding this past weekend 🙂 After the ceremony I put on a fingertip veil for the rest of the reception.  It had a little more sparkles to it so it was nice for the party.  My friend who got married a few months ago wore the cathedral veil during the ceremony then a flower headpiece for the reception.

I’m thinking I want to do this- there is no bustling my veil:

I think I might go with a birdcage veil!

@jnj02152014:  hmm…maybe a short veil then. I don’t know but I am sure when you get your look together it’ll either make sense or you can scrap the idea!

I had a cathedral-length veil that I bustled (the bustle was created with just a single, clear snap) for the reception. It worked beautifully.

Unbustled:

And, bustled, during the reception:

@jnj02152014:  I am wearing a cathedral length veil for the wedding and a birdcage veil over my face for the reception. I LOVE VEILS! I don’t want to take it off, ever, and I am totally going to rock one all night on the only night of my life that I can wear one!

My cathedral length veil:

@jnj02152014:  I’m thinking about getting a birdcage veil. In an ideal world I would have ordered a shorter veil when I ordered this one. It’s too late now :/

I would just go for a hair clip instead for the reception. I have heard that your head gets pulled back all the time from people grabbing your veil when they hug you
