I’m so excited, this month is our one year anniversary! I really want to celebrate.
It falls on Father’s Day this year (19th) and funny enough, it’ll be my hubby’s first one as I’m currently 5 months pregnant (eeek!)
We’re living in a small town about 45 mins away from Charlottesville, VA and about 3-4 hours away from the beach (where we had our honeymoon).
I was thinking of making this a combo of anniversary/father’s day/babymoon. Help me figure out what we can do. He should be able to get the 18th, 19th, and 20th off work, so that’s a nice 3 day weekend for a getaway.
He wants to go camping, but I’m like, um…I’m pregnant and it’s hot outside? I was thinking more of a B&B by the beach. Any other suggestions?

You could go to VA Beach or maybe Chincoteague/Assateague Island. Or you could do Colonial Williamsburg too. Or what about going down to the Luray area to see the caverns and stay at a B&B there?

Are there any places with air conditioned cabins that you can “camp” in? It’s not the same as tent camping, but it’s better than nothing.

Agreed, a cabin rental for the weekend in the woods, near water might be a nice compromise?
What about public parks that rent cabins? Although I know those tend to go real fast for the summer.

@PitBulLover: Oh I hadn’t thought of Chincoteague! That would be great! There are all sorts of cute B&B’s there. Plus it’s outdoorsy enough for the hubs.
The problem with being in the woods is that he would want to hike and normally that would be fun – but don’t think I could do much of that atm. But if it wasn’t super secluded, like near a town with restaurants and actives, it would work.
Maybe Lexingtion? We haven’t been to the Natural Bridge or Caverns down there. Maybe I can find an air-conditioned cabin type place?
Great ideas! I’ll start my internet searching 🙂

I just noticed there are a couple Living Social Escape deals in VA!
One in the Blue Ridge Mountain, one in Richmond. Don’t know if either are close to you?
