i can’t believe it has been nearly a year since my wedding! this year has flown by for me and my Darling Husband. and i’m ashamed to say, i have yet to have a wedding album made 🙁 we had smaller albums made through mypublisher.com for our parents, and they came out really nice, but i’m dying to make our wedding album myself, something a bit more personal and unique.
our photographer provided us with all of our proofs and retouched photos on cd, so i want to get my favorite ones printed and make an album with the physical photographs. do people even do that anymore? i love the idea of opening our wedding album in 20 years and actually being able to take out the photos. i want to create something really personal and creative without it being cheesy-scrapbooky….i’ve only seen 1 or 2 posts of bees crafting their own photo albums. any ideas of where to go for inspiration/ideas?

I think that’s a really nice idea! I love physical pictures too, and I feel like we don’t get to enjoy them as much these days.
Here’s a Weddingbee Pro post on different wedding album designs: http://www.weddingbee.com/2009/11/05/pro-wedding-album-design-examples/

You may want check out slip in matted albums. The pages are basically like photo mats that you slide actual pictures into. You can choose pages with a variety of picture sizes and number of openings. Nice ones aren’t cheap, but they have a much cleaner look than scrapbooks. The one draw back for you would be that they don’t leave a lot of room for “creative” touches like scapbooks do.

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies! I think what I was trying to say is that I wanted something other than the magazine style albums that have become so popular, without having to pay an arm and a leg for a professional matte album, and having a little added creativity. I really do like the simple chic look of magazine style albums so I may end up ordering one of them after all and save scrapbooking for vacations and other special events!
