My Fiance and I will be getting married this Friday. I’m 8 1/2 months pregnant and wanted to be married before the baby comes so we’re just having a super small/intimate ceremony with our parents and siblings only. We are going to announce that we got married with a slideshow at our baby shower which is the next day.
I’m perfectly content with this being our one and only marriage ceremony but my Fiance is a “life of the party” type person and I know he is really missing the whole celebration with friends and family aspect of a traditional, large, wedding and reception. Would it be weird for us to throw a “Wedding Celebration” reception on our one year anniversary next year? We would expect gifts, wouldn’t exchange vows or have a bridal party. I’m thinking we could do like a day time event at the same garden we are having our ceremony at on Friday and maybe just exchange words about our first year of marriage and life together, serve dinner, and then party. The only traditional wedding things we’d probably do are cutting a cake and a dance together (which we wouldn’t call a “First Dance.”
Is that silly?
