So, after going back and forth, discussing our alternatives and so forth we decided to postpone the wedding a year ahead to august 2013 instead of 2012. I feel happy about the decisiontoan extent , and I can dress shop even further since I have not bought a dress yet anyways. I don’t really know why, but somehow I am a bit sad too, because I guess I was looking forward to the wedding itself.. anybody else has done this, postponing a wedding for any other reason? We had to postpone for a year because of som big unforseen payments in regards of a family situation.
I guess I am a bit disappointed, though I still will have my man the rest of the time. I think I need a hug!

We never postponed it since no one publicly knew our date when it happened but we had to have a two year long engagement. It sucks, but it’s great to ease some of the planning and money stress.

I would have gone nuts if I postponed for a year. We wanted no more than a year long engagement. For me, I was just kind of wanted to get the wedding over and done with and move on. The planning and things I sort of had to do, even though I wasnt really actively planning all that much, were just hanging over my head like unfinished busniess.

I wish we had waited another year! I wanted it in 2013 due to some high loan payments, we could have it 100% paid off which would allow both of us to save for the wedding, added $800 amonth to the fund. Right now, it’s mostly on my FI’s shoulders, and it’s dicey if we can afford everything right now, which we have to do, it;s just gonna take some fancy footwork to get there. Fiance insisted we do 2012, he didn’t want to wait to long. So it’s really stressful right now planning.

Mhm, we were pretty set for the one year engagement as well. I guess we can’t always get what we want. 🙁
